I can't really see any of them winning the general election, though that disappoints me because I love the heck out of Gingrich, and he would be my first choice if I thought he could win.

I really don't think Hagel is anti-war. He is anti-this war, and he disapproves of Bush's handling of it. He is a Viet Nam Vet with a strong history of helping vets.

But isn't something different happening with the GOP? The more moderate candidates are in the lead, and Rudy is beginning to seem inevitable, causing some consternation amongst the hardcore.

Eisenhower Republican? Hmm, sounds like Rudy to me.
Well Eisenhouwer did not have all the baggage and skelletons in the closet the way Rudy has.

But anyway......the elections/primary is a long way off and all of us are just overeacting here the dark horses from either Party has yet to make their appearance.

rasta, yes but it is going to be intresting to follow. Rudh is ahead in the polls right now. I will be intrested to see how Romney and Browback fare coming into primary season. Also I see that the black vote is starting to warmup to Obama so that is going to be intresting also.

Have you checked the polls lately on whether the religious right and die-hard conservatives will support Ruddy?

Right, and his voting record is very solidly conservative. If he's the nominee, I'm sure I'll prefer him over any likely Democrat.

The Rasmussen Poll I posted did address that: Even among the most conservatve group of Republican primary voters, those who describe themselves as "very conservative", Rudy still wins, 24 vs. 23 for Gingrich.

No, the GOP isn't becoming more moderate. That would require them to reflect on themselves. They don't have the intelligence to do something like that. They just appear moderate now because they are getting their asses whipped.

Also to consider, the Reagan Democrats have left the Republican Party. I think it has allot to do with "Bush and the Neo-Cons.
