Rasta, off topic-Surely you would not support all three branches being run by the same party again, even if they were democrats?

Well, it usually does. Rarely do we get our first choice. The last time I did was '80 and '84 with Reagan.

For my ideology, Sam is too far right for me, and Obama is too far left. However, if I was going to vote for a president strictly on honesty, good values, and standing behind what he believes in Brownback would be it. He has served the people of Kansas very well, even the democrats.

Yeah, he's a solid guy, ideology aside. But the voters won't put it entirely aside, and Brownback is too far right to win.

Blue Dog here, I just logged in and glanced at some of the posts in my abscence. Before anyone votes purley on reasons of party base.......let's examine former examples of both ends of the political spectrum. 1. Jimmy Carter: This is a fine example of the left wing and the results of their decisions, what was the economy like while he was in? What about his foreign policies that lead to appeasing the middle east and the start of the terrorist movement? Come on, the man was afraid of his shadow. I'd say the standard of stock in american investment went to hell...... That's the problem with ultra liberalism, they try, even,if it is with good intent to please everyone but the people that they were hired to protect. His addministration of office still leaves a bitter taste in my mouth. Is the world a better place after his stint in office, which is how I measure anyone's value historically? No, no, no....... The other extreme.......2. Regean...As I've said before, perhaps an Icon, Ultra defense stance....sure he did protect the american public..but come on were not all of you, if you would honestly addmit it, sitting on one ass cheek for 8 years. Wondering if one morning, you might wake up and New York or Dallas, or one of a dozen other large populated areas might be gone. I'll give him this, he was one tough partner, but at what cost? He was in the hip pocket of big business, had the labor unions made as hell over that airline thing that cost the lives of hundreds of american citizens because of his tough stance of firing all the controlers and replacing them with scabs of no experience, it's a fact, look it up, I don't have to I lived it as a local union president of the umwa, man my people were mad as hell, but that's not all, sure there was plenty of work,,,,,at the burger joint down the street at min. wage. White collar stadard of living went up as intrest rates soared into double digets, blue collar standards went down as inflation ate up their paychecks....well, you see were I'm going don't you, I lived throught both of these, back to back that's why I am who I am.... A conservative american democrat, is there is such an animal, but mostly I'm by-god an american......

BD here again with an afterthought post script......Gay rights, abortions,,,,neither one of these issues is a hot buttom problem with me,,Why? Well, God or mother nature, as some of you might prefer.....has a way of dealing with that which diveates from that which is natural,,,,nature will run its course. Neither of these will survive, Gays can't procreate, the blood line ends.....abortion propoents will eventually kill of the blood line. Problem solved. Let God take care of what belongs to God is what I'm trying to say, both issues belong to him, as they are personal issues of man and god.
