I hate talking to myself, they say that you might be in trouble when you start answering back, he says to himself as he notices the three threads addressed to ........ oh, oh. It's time for this old dog to go circular and find a bed. BD

I could see Lieberman leaving the Democrats, thereby giving the GOP control over the Senate in exchange for the #2 spot on the GOP ticket. But, I don’t see this move winning the election for the GOP; Voters generally do not care about the #2 spot. A running mate usually can only hurt the ticket. The last time a VP candidate made any difference was when JKF had LBJ.

That's mostly right. Rarely does it make a very large difference. That was why I said this last night:

Ya'll are missing the point. The religious right will not get behind Rudy. Sam Brownback would be the best person they could back, but they won't because he has very little name recognition. He is perfect for the ideology. I don't understand why they don't do more to put his name out there.

Freedom, the reason is that Brownback left the Prostetant fold and became a Catholic. The majority of the relegious right is Protestant.

You have any idea how badly we'd lose the general election with Brownback heading the ticket? And then the Hildebeast, Obama or Edwards would be President.
He might be ok in the Veep slot to balance it though.

HAHAHA, shouldn't be about values and not WHICH religion you belong to? He supports their ideology, and truly practices their values.

I agree with you on this one, from what I have been able to read about him.

Also, keep in mind that Liberman switching over will have no further effect b/c the GOP Senate will loose more seats in the 08 mid-term elections as well. Eventually, the Democrats will have the majority in the Senate as well.
The conservative Contract with America dating back to 1994 is over!!!!

As a Democrat, Obama and Hilary are out for me. It is too bad that it is down to "who can win" instead of "who would make the best president". For my ideology, Sam is too far right for me, and Obama is too far left. However, if I was going to vote for a president strictly on honesty, good values, and standing behind what he believes in Brownback would be it. He has served the people of Kansas very well, even the democrats.
