Default Sympathy With The Devil

I should start by saying that I am 100% "in the tank" for Barack Obama. I am a total sucker for his smooth presentation and soaring rhetoric. I am also a shameless liberal.

But I really have to admit, I am starting to feel sorry for John McCain. The guy is a war hero. He actually has been a "maverick" for most of his political career. And he's pretty much dedicated his life to serving his country.

In watching him lately, I feel like I am watching the crusty but lovable grandfather I never had. History seems to be passing him by. And even as his campaign turns really nasty (and just a little racist), I can't help but think he is the unwilling accomplice of a Karl Rove political machine that he himself detests. I honestly don't think his heart is in it anymore.

So I hope he loses in November, but I am starting to really feel sorry for this guy. Am I alone?

No I dont feel sorry for the guy. I'm glad there are still guys like him out there. If you're 100% in the tank for Obama, you are the guy I'm feeling sorry for.

What is Racist about McCains campain. I think Obama and the media are the ones playing the race card

Yes, I also feel kind of sorry for him....but only a little.

The spin coming from both camps has been as or more ridiculous than ever before, with the most outlandish (IMO)coming from the McCain camp.

I do. I felt sorry for Bob Dole too.

What pissed me off about the Clinton-Dole election was that at the end of the day, people didn't like him personally, but they never really seemed to address how they felt about his stance on the issues. Still supported Clinton though.

You know who I feel the worst for? Meghan McCain, John's daughter (the White one). I don't mean that in a negative way, I'm just designating so everyone knows who I'm talking about. She's my age and with all of her friends giving money to the Obama campaign and everybody excited to beat her dad, she must be in a rough position. If you guys saw her at the speech yesterday, it looked like she was miserable. There was a notable look of unease on her face when her dad, and especially her mom, attacked Obama. This is becoming sad.

The really sad thing about Dole was that during the campaign you could tell he was doing what his political handlers told him to do, which is why he seemed as stiff as a board. After the election he went on Letterman and was so incredibly likable that I could only shake my head and wonder why he just didn't act natural during the campaign.

You could see that with Palin's interview. They become so afraid of answering something wrong that they look like idiots in trying to answer without answering. I mean even Obama to a great extent does that, but his great skill is that he is more polished at giving that sort of answers but really doesn't answer response.

I think its a foregone conclusion that Barack Hussain Obama will be the next President of the United States. I also honestly believe this will spell the end of the United States as a world superpower militarily, economically and industrially. I believe his appointments to the Supreme Court, which will pass a hugely liberal democratic Congress will so gut the Constitution as to be unrecognizable. I believe this will also spell the end of the Republican Party, which may not be a bad thing if it leads to a Conservative Party or a strong Libertarian Party.

I believe we are headed for a world wide depression, brought on, like the last, by liberal "progressive" economic policies. And like the last one the only way out of the depression will be World War.

I believe collectivist economic policies are the most evil policies on the face of the earth. I believe while most "progressives" truly believe they are "helping" others they are being manipulated by those who would be king.

Thats my opinion. I know I will get the usual short responses telling me I am nuts or worse. It doesn't matter, either I am right or I am wrong and I beleive history proves me right and the future will be bleak

Way to try to hijack the thread. I'm pretty sure we were all talking about feeling bad for what has happened to John McCain. Let's stay on topic.

I, too, believe that Obama will be our next President. It gives me a small hope that some of the damage done to this fine nation, our military, our economy, and our industry through the last eight years can be rectified.

I see, Nathan, that you choose not to hold your party accountable for any of this mess, even though they controlled every branch of government for 6 years. How very irresponsible and hypocritical of you.

And unchecked capitalism has worked so well, right?

The sad part of this whole thing is, Nathan, is I truly believe you love your country, but have bought into the stupidity of anyone standing left of center is the "enemy".

I dont feel sorry for any of the candidates. They know what they're in for when they signed up. Even the spouses if they decide to hit the stump (IE Michell Obama.) The only ones I would feel sorry for are the kids and or non involved spouses. Like Palins family. The press tore into them like hyenas at a fresh kill. Chelsea Clinton was off limits (as it should be) and the Bush kids only attracted the press's attention when it was warranted.
