Left of center would be OK, Obama is left of left. He has never been anywhere near center!

I do feel bad about what has happened to John McCain, not only for John McCain's sake but also for the sake of the country.

Unchecked capitalism has never been seen in this country. Progressive policies lead to the first Depression and progressive policies are leading to the second. Obama will just take us further down that road of collectivism and statism. Both Democrats and Republicans have followed those policies, I spare neither. In fact if you would reread my post you will see that I said liberal progessive policies, not democratic or Republican policies. I did say a liberal democratic Congress will appoint SC judges that will remove our liberties and freedoms.

Bwahahahaha...that's fucking hilariously stupid.

No Democrat is "far" left. Kucinich is closest, and even he isn't there.

Chelsea Clinton was off limits (as it should be) and the Bush kids only attracted the press's attention when it was warranted.
So should the media tear into Cindy McCain for stealing drugs from the children's charity she worked for now that she's hit the stump? I agree, kids should be off-limits and I think so should spouses. Our VP candidate's wife is a teacher, your VP candidate's husband wants to secede from the union. seems like you should think spouses are off limits too.

The press has already bringing all that up.

Checks and balances, Nathan. That's whats been missing in this country for at least the last eight years. You can blame liberal progressive policies all you want, but the truth is there has been no accountability for the last eight years. Not for our Government, not for companies. You talk about losing liberties and freedoms, but totally ignore the EO's of President Bush. The illegal wiretapping, holding US citizens as enemy combatants (documentation released just yesterday), the Patriot Act, ect......

I think what is scaring the Repubs, and what should scare Dems, is that there is a real possibility of the Dems controlling all branches of Government in the very near future. Ya'll want to know why the Dems haven't been more aggressive in investigating this Administration. Because they see the power grab this Administration has made, and they want that for themselves.

But I really have to admit, I am starting to feel sorry for John McCain. The guy is a war hero. He actually has been a "maverick" for most of his political career. And he's pretty much dedicated his life to serving his country.

In watching him lately, I feel like I am watching the crusty but lovable grandfather I never had. History seems to be passing him by. And even as his campaign turns really nasty (and just a little racist), I can't help but think he is the unwilling accomplice of a Karl Rove political machine that he himself detests. I honestly don't think his heart is in it anymore.

So I hope he loses in November, but I am starting to really feel sorry for this guy. Am I alone?

For the most part, I respect your post, and your honesty. It has bothered me that for the duration of the general election, the Obama campaign and willing media accomplices have attempted to 1. Tie him to Bush and 2. paint him as a typical conservative, which he is not. No one hes a better record of going against his own party and of bipartisanship than he does, and it is frustrating to see that distorted. If you don't agree with him on issues, fine, but let's be honest about his record. Thank you for that. I do question, however, the notion that his campaign is a little racist. No one has brought up race in this campaign except the Obama campaign, so I'm not sure I folow you there.

Please find me one legitimate press entity that has run a story since the primary season began detailing Cindy McCain's addiction and whether or not it has an impact on McCain's trustworthiness and judgment. And it's true, no Democrat is FAR left. To be on the far left, one would have to be a pure socialist. No my house, my car, my property; our house, our car, and our property. That's far left. Everyone shares everything and nobody owns anything. Obama is nowhere near that, just like no Republican is far right. They may be socially far left and far right, but not in their fundamental approach to the purpose of government.

You said "left of left", implying far left, correct?

Well, that is fucking stupid. He is slightly left of center, but well within the mainstream.

But it is dependent on where you stand where you put him.

If you believe he is far left, then you're probably far right.

(I am far left, FYI, that's why I was laughing at this)
