Default Voters Say McCain More Prepared To Be President

Rasmussen Reports: The most comprehensive public opinion coverage ever provided for a presidential election.

Voters Say Obama Won Debate, McCain More Prepared To Be President
Thursday, October 09, 2008

Voters say Barack Obama beat John McCain in Tuesday night’s presidential debate 45% to 28%, but they also think McCain is better prepared to be president than Obama by an 11-point margin.

Over one-quarter of voters (28%) didn’t pick either man as the winner of the debate, according to a new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey taken Wednesday evening.

Sixty-one percent (61%) say McCain is prepared to be president, while 50% feel that way about Obama. While 28% say McCain isn’t ready to be the chief executive, 43% say that of the Democratic nominee.

The whole problem is that Americans are voting their pocketbooks this time. They could care less what their candidate's character, past association, morals and integrity is. Of course, there will be some, like myself, that still looks at the moral issues and the integrity of the candidate.

Of course nobody cares about character anymore, that's why everyone but you is making it an issue. You seem to think that John McCain dictates what people feel in their hearts. You also seem to enjoy insulting the integity of fine Americans who DO still have a voice in this country, and of whom DO require morals, character, past associations and integrity from their candidate, whether dem or pub. Two presidents in a row, two different parties, both let the American people down with their lack of integrity as well as their associations, past and present, and you still don't get it. It's the integrity stupid. Carville's an idiot.

Of course people think McCain is more prepared to be president. They've thought that forever. Frankly, it shouldn't even be a question. That question was settled during the primary, though. People decided that with times as rough as they are, they were willing to take a bit of a chance on somebody they hadn't known for decades. If Obama started beating McCain in the "more prepared" poll, he's in bigger trouble than we all think. What's more important is who wins in the "better able to handle the economy" question and that's always Obama by more than 20.
