Default 2nd Presidential debate

I'm not going to get into who won...clearly the cons will go with McCain and the dems will go with Obama but I would like to share a few observations...

I watched it on CNN and they had a tracker across the bottom of the screen of undecided Ohio men and women...a separate track for each group....I have no idea how many participated.

Generally, the men tracked higher than the women and the women reacted more quickly.

Right from the beginning, the most striking thing to happen was that any time McCain mentioned Obama or when Obama mentioned McCain the dials dropped immediately and would then rise back or not depending on what the point was.

After a bit, Obama seemed to get a less negative response when he mentioned McCain's name than McCain did when mentioning Obama's name.

Another interesting drop that I noted was when nuclear energy was mentioned.

Obama maxed out the dial with men on a number of occasions with women only briefly but they weren't far behind...McCain maxed out the dial considerably less and for generally shorter periods of time.

It will be interesting to review other polls and perspectives...as I mentioned, this was among undecided Ohio men and women.

McCain referred to mujahidin as "freedom fighters"....

and said he is proud of America's role in Bosnia. (more Mujahidin.)

Good obs gramps. However, I think it's silly to take an undecideds word for much of anything in this election. I'm sure if that debate was still going that needle would still be bouncing all over the place. No, I don't put much stock in what the undecideds have to say anymore. Like I told arctic, no matter who they like, it'll change. Quicker than a sunny April day in Denver.

Abe, like I said...it will be interesting to see what other reactions are and what happens in the various polls...

You wish to discount the undecideds but those are exactly who McCain has to reach if he is to stand a chance...most every national poll has Obama clearly in the lead.

Just heard that CBS...I know, ugg...

39% Obama win
35% draw
29% McCain win

Edit: correction...McCain 27%

I don't discount them, I just don't put much stock in what they sat at any given moment. That was the whole Denver day thing. I'm always interested, just not naive.

BTW, don't change your av, it's pretty cool.

Obama wins again...

Both CBS and CNN polls were practically identical to the first one, Obama won this one 10%-15%. This did not help McCain.

Personallyfor me, there was nothing new in this debate and there were just a bunch of things 'talked about' in terms of substance...it was just a display personalities which Obama wins on that end.

The 'This one' comment and McCain points his thumb over at Obama was the way people are seeing the Senator from Arizona more and more...your angry old uncle who won't buy a new pair of shoes even though the onld stink up the room.

It's just an indication of how they reacted...I'm betting McCain didn't gain any ground from the debate other than perhaps with his base...which he already has.
