Much as I’d disagree with the policies in such a speech, it was clear that he passed that test. Tonight, his job was to persuade voters – particularly independents – not only that he could be president but that he should be president. I suspect polling in the next couple of days will provide evidence that he passed that test, too.

I'm sure you have a point here. I'm probably just too old to see it. I hope if you're not married already, that you don't get married, all us men get old and angry. And hair starts growing out of ALL of our orifices, and our toenails turn yellow and start to curl and chip, and we start grunting more than we used too, our hair slides down off our head and onto our back. You wouldn't like it cat, better stick to the youth. Then kick him to the curb once you start seeing any of these signs.

As a conservative I was dissapointed because 1. the outcome will likely not change the lead the very liberal Obama has toward the November election, 2. the 'debate' format of time limited segments only encourages the regurgatiation of focus group refined stump speech taliking points and little meaningful rebuttal, and 3. the Brokaw method and selection of questions simply destroyed the whole idea of a 'town hall' discussion of citizen issues on a one-on-one basis.
Bottom line, other that the McCain surprise of an out of the blue $300 billion program to bail home mortgages, I doubt that anyone learned anything they didn't already know.. and unfortunately that is very little for most voters imo....

That one surprised me so much that I rewound and listened to it again. I was still shocked.
My first thought was that McCain just cut his own throat as far as support from the fiscal conservatives. or does he THINK that they will reverse themselves as easily as he seems to be able to, and embrace socialism of that magnitude?

Like I told arctic, no matter who they like, it'll change. Quicker than a sunny April day in Denver.

I would like to know why we could consider anything the "undecideds" have to say about this election at this point. If they are unable to make a decision three weeks out doesn't that tell us something about their lack of perception?

Cons vs. Dems? Why not Repubs vs. Libs? Why not Liberal Repubs vs. Conservative Dems?
This is CNN....they control your mind just like tobacco companies sell you cigarettes.

Bottom line is that McCain need at least a TKO in this debate and didn't get it. I also thought that the "my friends" refrain was irritating to the point of my turning off the debate. Obama didn't nearly have the pressure that McCain had and didn't have to convert as many people as McCain did. While I think Obama will be a disaster of historic proportions as President, I think he sealed it tonight.
