    Man, I HATE that guy Bush. He's ruined EVERYTHING....
    Let's not lose our focus. I don't care if you hate Bush, go for it. But 17 times this past year he's advised them to kick in the oversight. Save some bipartisan hate towards Dodd, Obama, Clinton, Frank, Kerry, and other libs for not taking care of business. (oversight) Keep in mind the reason they haven't gone after Bush on this, or other Repubes is because they are as if not more guilty in this mess than you care to admit.

    I think you started out correct, McCain knows that the debate is important, but I think the reason for the delay is two fold.

    One he would be going into the debate with a handicap. That will be the topic, and Obama has a natural lead if the debate solely focuses on the economy it would probably hurt McCain. A delay in the hopes that things will marginally improve might help him.

    Two, McCain is trying to get in front of this issue. This could be an attempt to appear like he is treating this seriously.

    Personally, I don't find it that smart of a strategy. Of course the partisans on both side won't be moved, but I can't see this playing well in Peoria.

    What a bunch of bullshit...they have been in meeting all week on this issue in Washington and McCain has been on the road...if anything, the debates should even more importantly go on so that the candidates can shed light on the situation as they see it and where we should head...fer cryin' out loud, don't they have tv's in the Senate?

    Let's be honest. They haven't been meeting, they have been having show pieces with P&B giving their stories and congress tisk tisking them.

    That can be missed with no loss of content.

    It all depends when they start working on the details.

    The absurdity of all this is that McCain should send his advisers and stay the hell out of it when it comes to economics...as has been obvious over the last little while, he fundamentally keeps sticking his foot in his mouth.
