Palin's Big Strikeout
______________________________
Quote:
Palin's Big Strikeout
Sarah Palin gave a riveting and devastating nomination speech on Wednesday night. She shared her inspiring story and brave family, while savaging and ridiculing the celebrated life story of Barack Obama, a fellow barrier-breaking candidate, with whithering attacks on his work as a community organizer, senator, and author. She misrepresented his record and simply lied about her own, claiming to oppose earmarks that she supported, and dissembling on her $1.5 billion tax hike and record of raising sales taxes by 25 percent in Wasilla.
Reviewing the McCain Campaign's bullying, "unprofessional" onslaught against anyone who notes Palin's extreme positions and dishonest claims, Time's Joe Klein urged reporters to face facts:
I hope my colleagues stand strong in this case: it is important for the public to know that Palin raised taxes as governor, supported the Bridge to Nowhere before she opposed it, pursued pork-barrel projects as mayor, tried to ban books at the local library and thinks the war in Iraq is "a task from God."
By all accounts, Palin faced a huge task in St Paul. She had to prove she was up to the job of commander in chief.
She struck out big-time -- in a biting speech that showed the only job she was ready for is RNC Chair, another ruthless soldier in Karl Rove's army.

I don't think that she struck out at all Cat. There will be those that will buy her rhetoric, without checking the facts, and those people vote. She will take the focus off some important issues, IE the economy, and refocus attention on side issues, IE abortion. McCain isn't particularly strong on the economy. She will also take some of the attention and heat off of McCain because of her far religious right stances.

Care to enlighten us? She believes a baby shouldn't be aborted because it is 'inconvenint' but other than that I was unaware of her "religious right stances.
Either back it up, or retract your statement.

Other than the morbidly leftwing the general consensus is that Palin's speech last night was a winner. She also has an 80% approval rating as Governor of Alaska.
So tell us, how many taxes has Obama cut? Biden? Show us the legislation that Obama has introduced and had passed. Obama has less experience in elective office than even the worst president in the history of the United States, Jimma Cawda

More or less an opinion piece. As for the issues and their importance within society, that is for the individual to determine.

It must have been a winner, the news has all but ignored it. Driving in this morning listening to CBS radio they carried 5 seconds of her speech and then gave Joe Biden 2 minutes to counter it.
I love Palin, if for no other reason than she has sent the left off the deep end which is always entertaining.

Political Correctness defined :
A doctrine fostered by a delusional, illogical liberal minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.

Palin is a breath of fresh air. I LOVED her speech .... She seems like a "regular" person, unlike Obama and Biden. I absolutely look forward to voting for McCain/Palin, and I can just hope and pray that they are our next President and Vice President. These two people are what this country needs right now!!!

Did you hear any rhetoric last week during the DNC? I did.
These conventions are full of it. To believe one side has more or less of it is naive. Raises the point for a third party yet again.

Does anyone remember anyone in the news media pointing out the fallacies of anything in Biden's speech when he accepted the nomination. Surely no one with any logical thinking capacity at all thinks that every utterance of Biden was correct and 100% truthful.
