Jon Stewart: FNC's Fair & Balanced Claim an Insult "To People With Brains"
Stewart_8.25.jpgWaPo's Howard Kurtz attended a breakfast at the University of Denver during which Daily Show host Jon Stewart called FNC's "fair and balanced" slogan an insult "to people with brains."
"I'm stunned to see Karl Rove on a news network as an analyst," said Stewart, adding only "Fox News Sunday" moderator Chris Wallace "saves that network from slapping on a bumper sticker...Barack Obama could cure cancer and they'd figure out a way to frame it as an economic disaster."
A Fox News spokesman responds, "Jon's clearly out of touch," citing last week's Pew Research Center study showing the network has the most balanced audience in cable news: 39% Republicans and 33% Democrats. "But being out of touch with mainstream America is nothing new to Jon, as evidenced by the crash-and-burn ratings of this year's Oscars telecast."
But Stewart saved some fire for CNN and MSNBC too, calling the cable collective a "brutish, slow-witted beast." Kurtz called Stewart's comments "a far-ranging indictment" of what Stewart describes as "that false sense of urgency they create, the sense that everything is breaking news. The 24-hour networks are now driving the narratives and everyone else is playing catch-up."

Rove: Obama-Lugar bill to secure loose nukes was ‘minor housekeeping measure,’ ‘unimportant.’»
Interviewed on Fox News today, former Bush adviser Karl Rove claimed legislation sponsored by Sen. Barack Obama (D-IL) to secure loose nuclear weapons throughout the former Soviet Union was a “minor housekeeping issue” that made “some technical changes”:
What he’s referring to that passed Congress I think even on a voice vote, that had to do with some technical changes to some of the protocols we had in place, primarily for dealing with surplus, conventional weapons from the old Soviet bloc. It was a minor housekeeping measure. It was important in the greater scheme of things. But as far as Congress went, it was so relatively unimportant and uncontroversial that it passed on a voice vote.
Watch it:
Sen. Dick Lugar (R-IN), who co-sponsored the legislation, thought otherwise. The legislation helped “keep deadly conventional weapons like anti-aircraft missiles out of the hands of terrorists,” he noted in 2007, and would “help other nations find and eliminate conventional weapons that have been used against our own soldiers in Iraq and sought by terrorists all over the world.”

Glenn Beck Encourages Listeners To Use More Energy To ‘Wipe Out Any Potential Energy Savings’ At The DNC»
beckenergyweb.jpgIn April, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) promised that the Democratic National Convention this week will be the “greenest, most sustainable” convention in history. The Democrats greening efforts include the use of biodegradable balloons and signage, an army of volunteers for recycling, and a calculation of the convention’s carbon footprint.
Responding to the Democrats’ efforts, conservative global warming denier Glenn Beck is mockingly calling on his listeners to participate in a “carbon ONset program” aimed at counteracting progressive efforts to offset the environmental impact of the convention. On his website, Beck is encouraging Americans to “use more energy for mother nature“:
What can you to help? Take part in our carbon ONset program. We are asking you to make just a few small sacrifices to completely wipe out any potential energy savings the Democrats claim credit for. (By ‘energy savings’, we mean buying their way out of the energy they’ll use by flying in tens of thousands of people to a city so they can announce Barack Obama as their candidate. Seems like most people already knew that, but I digress).
Sign up for our carbon ONset program. Use more energy for mother nature. Do it for the earth (or more accurately, the people living on it.)
Beck posted a survey on his website (see graphic on the right-hand side) where listeners can say what they’ll do to “use more energy.” On his radio show today, he also offered suggestions for how his listeners can help “raise 70 million pounds of carbon.” Beck repeatedly kept claiming it needed to be done “for the children“:
What I’m just, I’m asking you to participate because it’s for the children. You go to the website. Now, how many, how many extra miles can you pledge? Can you drive five extra miles a day? Can you take the long way home, the long way to work? Can you just warm up your car? I know it’s August. Can you cool down your car? Can you get up like you do in the winter and just start your car?

And all the while they continue to drop in ratings, declines in readership, and ads, then they are layoff staff, and journalists in rates that make outsourcing look like a small problem, and still they continue to spew their bias.
Isn't it funny with Biden 36 yrs of "Beltway Banditry", we hear nothing of this, instead his early tragedy riding the train is shown as a common man from Scranton. Where he hasn't lived in 60 years. And mention of his plagiarism, and harshness toward Thomas, well they just don't matter.
I am relying on 3 things, she was deeply lawyered through the process, American people will see through this, and she will stun the fuck out of the Nation while cleaning Biden's clock.

The McCain Myth (Why RINO John McCain Will Never, *Ever* Be President)
Wall Street Journal/Opinion Journal ^ | 5/31/2005 | Brendan Miniter
Posted on Monday, May 30, 2005 10:28:41 PM by KentTrappedInLiberalSeattle
Having helped broker the Great Senate Compromise last week, Sen. John McCain is back in the media limelight, winning the usual accolades for bucking his party. But the deal by 14 "moderates" doesn't just preserve the judicial filibuster and allow confirmation of a few of President Bush's "extremist" nominees. It also reveals that the myth the McCainiacs hoped would propel their man into the Oval Office in 2000 still endures, despite evidence of successive elections to the contrary.
The myth is simply that the only way to win elections is to draw voters from the other party by bucking a few of your own party's principles. Call it "maverick moderatism," but this belief has been the foundation for Mr. McCain's strategy for achieving national office and has given us great ideas like the recent iteration of campaign finance reform, opposition to some tax cuts and dogged attacks by Mr. McCain on some military expenditures. It's also the foundation of many pundits' advice to the president that he pick more "moderate" judges, give up on using payroll taxes to create private Social Security accounts, and trim his sails on fighting terrorism by spreading freedom.
