Personally, I am glad SS is going to go away... It should have never excisted in the first place.

Yes, there are some of that opinion.

I guess we're all "spoiled" because of free public education, too.

Maybe we should get rid of that. Let parents teach their own damned kids, and stop relying on the government!

And roads, too! How spoiled we are to have the government building our roads!

I wouldn't mind the government doing it if they weren't so incredibly bad at doing it.

I agree, 2 pages, and still no one has offered any type of explanation. Go figure.

Isn't it all relative?

Exactly how well would kids be educated if we left it up to the parents? How much education would be sacrificed if people had to do it themselves or pay for private schools out of pocket?

Furthermore, the standards keep getting tougher and tougher. Kindergarten used to be a place to learn some colors, some letters, a few numbers, and mainly how to socialize.

Now, we're expecting to do all that in Pre-K, and hey, maybe we can squeeze it in when they're three.

I expect in ten years, we'll be giving out the New York State curriculum standards to new parents as the child exits the womb. "Make sure they have this by the first year."

I've already seen one change, and that's in the tone of a campaign. Obama has run an extremely polite campaign, and avoided the character-assassination that so often happens.
If you are not cynical in our current political climate, then you are not paying attention. This is what I mean by ignorant.

There's no change. He's already in it with McPain about foreign policy. It's politics, there's no such thing as a "polite campaign".

Oh, I pay attention. Perhaps I'm not old enough to be jaded.

It's been an incredibly, historically, polite campaign.

Actually, if I had to bet, I'm younger than you are. I just don't believe what the media tells me, instead I question, and when something sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

I don't believe EVERYTHING the media tells me, either. So, I'm wondering this: where do you get your information, when you're doing this questioning.

Oh, and how old are you? 'Cuz you type old!
