I think that if you go read his whole speech and then consider other things Obama has said. Blacks have scratched and clawed. His grandmother who raised a mixed child when it a social stigma was a racist. His grandmother is a typical white person. Small town Americans bitterly cling to religon and guns and are racist to people who do not look like them. If you look at the whole picture you get a much clearer picture of Obama, and that picture is one of either ignorance or hatred. When you add his careful selection of Wright to the mix you get a clearer picture of a racist and a slimy politician who will stop at nothing to get ahead.

Back when young Obama was being raised by his white grandparents there was a social stigma attached to what they did. Would the typical white person of the time have raised a mixed child and face head on the bigotry of the time?

For example, did Obama never hear such comments from Wright before or had he just not PERSONALLY heard such comments? In one of his ads Obama says we need a president we can trust. Can you trust a liar? Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me. If this was Hillary the media would be playing what Obama originally said, what he said days later, what he said on March 18th and what he said this week to show his lies.

If you like you can help me with these non Wright issues. What is the profit margin for that evil price gouging Exxon? Do you agree that Exxon is price gouging? How much does your profit have to increase to be a windfall profit? Should companies be penalized for making more of a profit this year than last?

Jinx, where did you go? When you answer my questions we can start a completely unWright based conversation about Obama, but you left.

Well, I am a poor white, but I don't have a huge chip on my shoulder. I did understand your point, did you understand mine? Instead of assuming what you meant, I took what you said at face value. You'll notice you didn't say that I FEEL that I'm making a valid point, but really, I'm full of it. And the implication does not have to be read in that sentence.

Yes, most black people have had to scratch and clawed to succeed. His grandmother, "who loved him as much as anyone" had some racist tendencies. Small town Americans are bitter because of being ignored by their government....a government, who, by the way, panders to them with talk about small-town values, such as religion and gun ownership (hunting).

Sounds like Obama is putting words to some of the things that I've experienced.

And he gives them their proper due. His love, his respect, his gratitude. Not blind adoration, but seeing them in their whole personahood.

Being a poor white have you been priviledged or have you had to scratch and claw? Did someone make your life easy because you are white? Have you EARNED what you have or do you get it just because you are white?

Do you really believe that a white couple back then raising a mixed child was TYPICAL? If not then why did he insult his white grandmother like that.

Do not take anything a lawyer says at face value. For example, do you really think that a 10% profit margin is price gouging? Is taking a hit in the profit margin making windfall profits? Exxon did make a bit over 40 billion dollars in 2007, it was an increase of profit by 2.8% with 7.4% growth in sales with their profit margin dropping from about 10.1% to 10%. I did not take Obama's talk about gouging and windfall profits at face value, I looked deep into it and found he was demagoguing the issue. Obama was also demagoguing in his March 18th speech. Look at all the parts look at the face value, but delve deeply into the other meaning. Especially when a lawyer has spent a long time writing a speech.

Poor and white? Don't suppose you are also single and between 30 and 38?

Well, I feel I have scratched a clawed a bit. But I'm still poor. The point being, Obama never said that white people HAVEN'T worked hard and earned what they had. He said that they feel that they've earned what they've got. I'm guessing they do feel that way. And why shouldn't they?

"Typical" isn't the awful insult that you seem to believe it is. As far as loving their grandchild, I'd say that IS pretty typical.

Well, you've hit my weak spot. I do not get economics. I'm sure what you wrote makes sense, but I cannot make sense of it. However, what I FEEL is that I'm not being pandered to when Obama says he's against the "gas tax holiday." He's looking at long-term solutions, not a three-month temporary patch on gas prices.

KP, you have obviously drunk the Supply side Repub. kool aid and have been hood-winked into believing Bush has spent like a Liberal! What Bush has done over the last 8 years is reward his powerful wealthy BASE, with obscene spending packages and veto signings, and signing statements to ensure they do everthing possible to drain the treasury and turn America into a 3rd World Banana Republic!!! You foolishly try to compare Bush with FDR, when if you were honest you would compare Bush to Prez. Ray Gun and Daddy Bush! But no, integrity is not your fine suit is it?

If you were honest (which you are not), one only needs to compare Reagan-Bush Supply side economics starting in 1981 to what has gone on for 8 years with the GW Bush Admin. Except with GW & Cheney, you need add the phenomenon of MERCENARY ARMIES in conjunction with the Military Industrialize complex and Corporate Defense Contractors.

You see O-Bright One, the lion share of the Bush Admin. increasing the size of Gov't and spending over the last 8 years was soley to allow Corporate Defense Contractors along with Blackwater type Mercenary Armies to further drain America's national treasury.

The bloated military budget that President Bush has proposed for 2009.
Military spending will rise to a level exceeding any other year since the end of World War II, and there will be precious little left over to improve education and medical research, fight poverty, protect the environment or do anything else a decent person might care about. You cannot spend well over $700 billion dollars of tax payers money on "national security," and allow the very Defense contractors not to pay their fare share of tax revenue back into the treasury b/c the 1.6 trillion dollar Bush tax cuts say they don't have too.

These types of expenditures and tax breaks are unsustainable. You also factor in how Bush has allowed the deregulation of real estate lending institutions which has caused the sub-prime markets to take the entire country/world into a recession/depression. $400 billion in annual deficits for the next two years, and yet find the money to improve the quality of life on the home front.

Face it KP, Republicans can't Govern a Government if they HATE GOVERNMENT! Your Republican party only likes the Gov't when they can manipulate its laws to enrich themselves. And McCain is no different b/c after all he's a REPUBLICAN!! Sheeesh, how many times do you GOD DAMN REPUBLICANS want to have to continue FUCK UP our constitution and spending this great country of ours into 3rd World Debt!

Sorry KP, its time you Republicans step-aside this election season and allow America to heal herself w/o any involvement of Republican leadership.

Brother Rasta, your bong has been spiked. Bush has outspent any other president when it comes to welfare. Bush is LOVED in Africa for all of his spending programs there. You are hung up on only the military. Which the Democratics voted for before 06 and after the took over in 06, including Obama.

The only reason Clinton had a balanced budget was Newt and the Contract with America. You need to vote for Newt if you liked the 90s.

FDR, started new government programs that wasted taxpayer dollars. Bush did the same. FDR ran a very ineffect war that led to the needless deaths of many Americans. Bush did the same, but not as badly. FDR was a socialist. Well, Bush is just a liberal and not as far left as FDR. The media loved FDR and would never report anything negative about him. Well, the media cannot get over Bush (R), the R makes the media despise Bush. FDR spent a lot of money to get us out of a depression. Bush spent a lot of money to get us out of the recession at the end of Clinton's era which was deepned due to 9/11. FDR believed the government was the solution to everything. Bush believes the government is the solution to most things. FDR interred thousands of Americans, abolished Habeaus Corpus, and set up POW camps in the US. Bush made it possible to listen to 2 terrorists talking outside the US with their signal simply going through the US. Your right FDR was much worse than Bush, it was an unfair comparison as FDR had no respect for the Constitution. FDR even tried to get more justices added to the Supreme Court to stack it in his favor.

FDR did believe that the government spending would bring the US out of the Great Depression. Your boy FDR was a supply sider.

Name one thing the government runs well and does not cause massive inflation by wasteful spending.

Sister KP, FDR never spent and borrowed nor increased the National debt the way Reagan-Bush I and Bush II have done. In 1980, Ronald Reagan promised that, if elected, he would cut taxes, raise military spending AND balance the budget—all at the same time. His opponent, George H.W. Bush called it “voodoo economics”. But Reagan won the election and kept his promise. He cut the marginal tax rate on the highest income earners from 75% to 38%. What happened?

In 1982, the first full year for Reagan’s policies, the economy shrank by 2%, the worst performance since the Great Depression. Investment — the magic transmission belt through which all other Supply Side benefits were supposed to flow — actually declined as a percent of GDP over the 1980s. Worse, Reagan’s Supply Side policies created the biggest budget deficits in history. The numbers tell the story.

Jimmy Carter’s last budget produced a deficit of $77 billion. At the time, it seemed huge. Reagan’s first budget swelled the deficit to $128 billion. By the next year, 1983, it had exploded to $208 billion and was creating severe problems for the economy. By 1992, at the end of the “Reagan Revolution,” (under Reagan’s Vice President and successor, Bush, Sr.) the deficit was approaching $300 billion a year.

Annual deficits, of course, accumulate to the national debt. In 1980, the national debt amounted to less than $1 trillion. By the end of 1992, it had reached $4.35 trillion. In other words, the debt, which had taken over 200 years to reach $1 trillion, quadrupled in the 12 years of Supply Side Economics.

Bill Clinton reversed Reagan’s Supply Side policies, raising taxes on the wealthy and lowering them on the working and middle class. This Demand Side formula was fiercely resisted by Republican leaders in Congress who predicted a stock market crash and another Great Depression. Indeed, every single Republican member of Congress voted against it. It took a tie-breaking vote by Al Gore in the Senate to get the bill passed. What happened?

The economy produced the longest sustained expansion in U.S. history. It created more than 22 million new jobs, the highest level of job creation ever recorded. Unemployment fell to its lowest level in over 30 years. Inflation fell to 2.5% per year compared to the 4.7% average over the prior 12 years. And overall economic growth averaged 4.0% per year compared to 2.8% average growth over the 12 years of the Reagan/Bush administrations.

It wasn’t even close. The economy performed dramatically better in almost every way once Supply Side policies were replaced with Demand Side policies.

The most dramatic outcome was the reversal of the Reagan-era Supply Side deficits. Clinton’s Demand Side policies not only paid down the Reagan/Bush deficits, they produced the first budgetary surpluses since 1969. By the time Clinton left office, the government was running surpluses of almost $140 billion per year. This is what he turned over to George W. Bush in January of 2001.

Bush, of course, returned to the Supply Side policies of Reagan and his father. He lowered taxes on the very rich — his “base” as he calls them. His $1.6 trillion in tax cuts give 45% of the benefits to the top 1% of the population. It is classic Supply Side economics.

KP the reality is, since 1981, Republican's since 1981 have increased our national debt from one trillion dollars, which took over 200 years to accumulate, to over 9-10 trillion dollars in 28 years; of which 20 of those years we had Republican Presidents. At least in the 8 years of Clinton with the use of Demand Side Economics, he was able to balance the budget, created a surplus and began to pay down the National debt

First you need to put all the figures into today's dollars to make the numbers useful. 10 dollars in 1940 and 10 dollars today are not the same. Do you understand that?

Do you understand that we have spent more on the War on Poverty than the national debt? We have been running a program for over 40 years that has failed, and failed miserably.

Why do you hate rich people?

Oh I understand that, however you're the one who is too lazy to post the difference btwn the debt and deficit spending conducted by Reagan-Bush I and Bush II and FDR. Also, how much will 9 trillion dollars of debt and defcits rung up by Reagan-Bush's be worth 40 years from now!!!!

By the way, FDR pulled this country out of the depths of depression which was caused by Republicans spending tactics and corruptions. Looks like its going to take another FDR type Presidency to correct all the damaged caused by another generation of corrupt, theiving, and irresponsible Republican Presidents. History repeats itself....wouldn't you agree?

I noticed you haven't said anything about the corresive results and tax payer rip offs of 40 years of Corporate Welfare programs over the last 40 years which have cost tax payers more than social welfare programs.......care to comment, spin, or rationalize this fact????

By the way, I like the Rich.......they taste really good at BBQ's, especially with a little salt and butter!!!

ANYWAY, SOAK THE RICH, AND ROAST THE RICH!!!
