I really like this guy. He seems like a really good candidate, and I agree with most of what he stands for.
- He supports civil liberties; LGBT rights, women's right to choose, opposes "Don't Ask, Don't Tell".
- He opposes NAFTA, and recognizes that we've lost over a million jobs over seas to it.
- He opposes Military confronatation with Iran (seeing as they don't have WMDs), and encourages diplomacy.
- Wants to bring power back to the American people! xD
- Accepts the potential threat of Global Warming, and will work to reduce our carbon footprint.
- He favors protecting out borders and monitoring the flow of immigrants into our country, and would support a guest worker program.
He strongly opposed the nuclear testing in the 60's, and through the 70's helped fight the draft, and the continuation of the Vietnam war. He also read through the 7000 top-secret Pentagon Papers released by Ellsberg in 1971 until he was in tears and physically unable to go on. The 7000 top secret Pentagon Papers exposed the deliberate attacks in Vietnam that the American people didn't not know about while President Johnson was promising not to expand the war.
So:
He helped expose corruption in the government, supports civil liberties, recognizes the problems and potential problems the U.S has and may be facing, and on top of everything, he is a supporter of direct democracy! He wants to bring power back to the people!!
Unfortunately though, the chances of Senator Gravel winning the presidential election are little to none, when in all truth, I think he's what the U.S needs.
What do guys think of him?
