I've already mentioned the abortion clinic bombers, but let's take a look at the KKK and the Branch Dividians. The KKK has reared its ugly head three times in our history. The first time was in 1866. Founded by veterans of the Confederate Army, its main purpose was to resist Reconstruction. That organization was quickly put down by U. S. Grant with the Civil Rights Act of 1871 (also known as the Ku Klux Klan Act).
The second dose of KKK hatred showed up around 1915. It was inspired by the newfound power of the modern mass media, via the film "
The Birth of a Nation" and inflammatory anti-Semitic newspaper accounts surrounding the trial and lynching of accused murderer Leo Frank. They typically pushed racism, anti-Catholicism, anti-Communism, nativism, and anti-Semitism. The Great Depression pretty well did away with the KKK that time around.
Today, it is estimated that there may be as many as 150 Klan chapters with up to 8,000 members nationwide, but since most are forced to remain underground due to the stigma of the KKK, many consider these numbers high. These groups, with operations in separated small local units, are considered extreme hate groups and they've been repudiated/condemned by all mainstream media and political
and religious leaders.
So, despite their claims to be doing what they do in God's name, there is NO connection to any Christian organization in the U.S. or anywhere else.
The Branch Dividians - Like the KKK, whatever it was they were actually doing in WACO, if it wasn't supported by the New Testament of the Bible, they were not doing it as Christians. Over and above that, they're gone, all slaughtered by Janet Reno's order; so there's no threat there either.
