The problem is this... as the moon (BEEN THERE) as Mars (It's fabulously expense to consider a manned mission, as well as the risks involved in a three year trip to mars and a three year trip back. Basically it probably won't work, so you would have spent all this money, all to have men and women die in space.) Also there is no cold war (for now) so the "race we in the 60 just isn't there. Plus with a possible three front war and social programs needing funding here at home; pie in the sky mission will have to wait for now.... that is just my 2 cents.

You know that social programs will always need funding no matter what. What do you have to say about what we have learned from the space program?

Did you read the posts?

It was stated that we are behind because the Russians and Chinese are going to land something on Mars. I pointed out that we already have.

Who said anything about a manned mission to Mars?
