Ohio parents told of school explosion, not told it’s a drill

MASON, Ohio — An automated message system told parents of a large explosion at a southwest Ohio elementary school, sending moms and dads into a panic before officials could clarify that it was all just a drill.
The Mason School District outside Cincinnati had informed parents last week that there would be a disaster drill on Tuesday, but they didn’t name the school where the drill would take place.
After receiving the first message Tuesday afternoon, about 100 parents hurried toward Mason Heights Elementary before a second message could be sent with the clarification.

I got the only helicopter ride of my entire life as a volunteer firefighter acting as the "victim" of a staged multi-vehicle crash during Drunk Driving Awarness Week.
Our little town fire department would announce these drills/presentations weeks in advance. There would be bounce houses, pony rides, food and vendors tents, chinese auction and BBQ for the firehall, etc.
This school blew a perfect
PR opportunity, and scared countless parents shitless. Imagine if someone's granny had gotten the message, and died of a heart attack?
It's no wonder our educational system is in dire straights and is pumping out uneducated kids, when the educators themselves regularly indulge in plain stupidity.
