On this we agree totally OB, who in their right mind would have the class vote on something like that? I hope she is prosecuted to the full extent of the law or sued by the boy's family until shes a homeless bum. And even that shows her too much sympathy.

What an incredible lack of judgment. I will bet that this kid has been a discipline problem from day one and the teacher is just FED UP with the misbehavior and has been wracking her brains trying to find a way to get through to him.

However, this is just the WRONG way. I don't care how many times she needs to remove him from the class, you always assure the child that it is *his* actions that are excluding him from the class, and that when he behaves appropriately, he will be welcomed back warmly. For that power to be put in the hands of his peers is wholly inappropriate.

I agree, Carson. On a personal note.

Long story, short. My mom was a 2nd grade teacher and the principal wouldn't allow me to be in my mom's class, the other 2nd grade teacher was looney. So my mom sent me to a Luthern school. One day I forgot my freaking blue bible and freaking Mrs. Brown asked the kids to raise their hands if I should be paddled in class (1975) of course they raised their hands because they didn't want to get paddled. She paddled me in front of the whole class. Fortunately, shortly after that incident, the looney 2nd grade teacher finally went over the edge and was replaced and I was back in public school.

Too bad that didn't happen today, you could have sued and the whole army life thing would not have been necessary. Whats up with this asking kids to vote thing. There is a reason you have to be 18 to vote. What idiot trusts the judgment of an eight year old?

Carson;
I agree 100%. Who is going to vote agains their teacher?
Anyway, I have learned much about people and places because of the military. It has made me a stronger person to have been a military dependent. It has taught our kids they can assimilate and acclimate to any situation. There's just as many pros as cons.

I had a year in pre-school, spend a lot of time with the little ones in my family, but don't have much experience with children of special needs (I've come into contect with a few kids who were neglected, abused, or otherwise not cared for, but nothing medical) and I've come to one conclusion:

its very hard to work with kids. it must be extremely difficult to work with kids who don't have a clean bill of health. if you can't do it, don't feel bad.- just don't get a job you can't handle.

I know that I can't handle 8 hours a day with 25+ pre-schoolers.
my old pre-school instructor had a lengthy conversation about how she found out that pre-schoolers are fine, but she couldn't handle being a care giver for people who had serious developmental needs.

those aren't jobs for everyone. its nothing to feel bad about.

but when you get a teacher like this, or a bus driver like the one in my district (where he was verballing abusing the autistic kids on his route)- we've gone from people trying to work a job they aren't cut out for, to children being abused. completely unacceptable.

Huh.

Who woulda thought...here we are providing our kids with government agendas, teachers unions, and school corporations, and it turns out you can't trust them?! How could a combination of government, corporations, and unions EVER fail us?

Public Teacher mistreats student. Surprise, surprise. Wake me when the REAL news hits.
