No I think that what I said was the fact that between 8 and 10 trillion dollars had been spent on poverty from 65 to 2000. And then a "Republican" congress passed massive welfare reform (The Personal Responsibility and Work Reconciliation Act) in 96, with grinding and gnashing of teeth coming from people such as you when Mr. Slick was talked into signing the Bill, saying this would actually make women, children, and minorities more impoverished. And I used an example of black children that were considered impoverished to prove that during that time when the program was first started in 96 over 35% of all black children were considered impoverished and this rate fell to around 30% over a four year period and the actual number on "Welfare" fell by 13% and the actual poverty level fell by 7% over the entire nation. Proving that working actually brought down the poverty level. Where it had not gained but .5% over the 4 decades prior in bringing down the poverty level considering the fact that almost 10 trillion had been spent. But because of the fact that I used Black Children as an example it brought the race baiters out of the closet with accusations of "bigotry" and "racism". And they said that the first "Black President" Mr. Slick was the one that brought this reform, not the Republican's congress' "Contract with America"....something like that, along with you redundantly pasting some chart that you grabbed of wiki, trying to spin and crunch the number declaring that Welfare and poverty had actually gone down over the past decade under "liberal" leadership proving the liberalism was the better government. Yes, I certainly remember the fact that you, as always were trying to take credit on the liberal front for work done by conservatives....now what was your point? BD

No I try to avoid U-Tube like the plague that it is.....lacked with spy cookies and viruses. Have you ever performed a systems "sweep" after visiting such a site? You would be amazed. My "NOD" security system goes into hyper drive with warning bells and lights flashing. It seems they download "bugs" with the video stream...another such site that I found as such was "movielinks". Officials with the Mount Vernon School District say they don't oppose religion but are required by the U.S. Constitution not to promote or favor any set of religious beliefs.
Wrong. The Constitution states that "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion..." It isn't Law when a guy has a book. That's just a circumstance, not a Law being enacted.

Freshwater says being forced to keep the Bible out of sight would infringe on his rights.
Wrong again, for the same reasons...it's not a Law when it's a mere business policy. If he's really thinking along those lines, then students would have the right to bear arms in the classrooms, speak whenever they felt like it, about anything they wanted to say, and wouldn't be able to get an "F" without a jury trial.

RIGHTS are things the Government is forbidden to take away by legislation. Any business has the freedom to limit the exercise of those rights within the scope of their business. I can forbid firearms on my property without infringing on anyone's right to bear arms...they simply don't need to come on my property if they don't want to surrender their weapons.

The same applies to schools. If you don't like your kid seeing a Bible on a desk, don't send him. Or get the school to change their policy (not Law, just policies and procedures). But in either case, it's NOT a situation of Government passing a Law that interferes with your religion, and nothing in this article is even remotely related to Constitutional Rights.

It amazes me...the whole essence of the Bill of Rights is "Here's the things Government MUST stay out of." But as soon as it appears on anyone radar, what do they want? Get the government to get involved and fix it! The teacher with the Bible on his desk MAY offend some idiots...and the school making a rule to prevent Bibles from being in the school may offend some other idiots...but none of that is Unconstitutional, and none of it is being forced on anyone. Parents can send their kids elsewhere for an education, and teachers can work elsewhere. If you don't like the rules, go somewhere else that has rules you DO like, or simply work to get the rules changed WITHOUT calling in a Government which is, Constitutionally, forbidden to get involved, but is slavering for US to give them the foot in the door.

You miss the point here or you choose to do so.
There are Govt funded Islamic schools in America.
There are schools with black students only that are funded by the Govt.
There are Govt funded schools that use the Koran.

This is an attack on Christians ONLY!

For Real!!

I get so sick of them whining their "rights" are being violated.
Where else in the world can one brag ignorance is 'the way' and be proud of it?
America, home of the free, land of the brave and allows ignorance to perpetuate itself.
