I can't think of any teacher I know who would not agree that ineffective discipline of students is the #1 problem in education. Ineffective administrators would probably be #2. Contrary to popular belief, I don't know of any who complain much about the pay.

Most don't complain about the pay. They just want the respect they deserve, and this story highlights how it is more and more nonexistent.

My son has decided he is done with teaching after only four years.

For many reasons none of them have to do with guns or weapons.

He teaches at a upper middle class school.

The first reason good teachers cannot be found is that job does not pay nearly enough.

New teachers need to start out in the mid 30's and go up from there. Laws should be enacted to keep schools from getting rid of teachers every few years in favor of hiring new lower paid teachers.

There are lots of things wrong with the system.

My son can take his degree and make 20 grand more working in the corporate world.

I detoured into the corporate world for awhile and made A LOT more than teaching. Of course I only had 1 week of vacation.......

More pay would definitely be a plus for teachers, but in my case (and my co-workers) it wasn't our motivating factor. The women marry doctors and lawyers and then don't need to worry!

In the case of a main bread winner though, teacher's pay isn't going to cut it after all the schooling you put in.

I'm about to invest $3,000 more into my education degree just to work part-time. Oh well...........

So the children won't face any repercussions for their intent to murder? I don't care if they are in 3rd grade. THat's FUBAR. They are a menace to society. If they will kill an adult, they will kill their peers. I wouldn't allow my children within 50 yards of those little terrorists.

I believe a case can be made that they are too young to truely appreciate the seriousness of their plot. But, thank goodness this was found out.

Of course, the first thing that comes to mind...what about the parents...where were they? What the heck kind of supervision is going on? Where did these kids get this idea from?

Of course they are too young to truly understand the reprecussions of this scheme. BUT, if we sweep it under the rug like we do with all other issues like this it will serve to further their deviances in the future.
