Default What's a leap year?

I found out last night that my 16 year old sister did not know what a leap year was! This is our education system at work. Any comments?

I think you raise an interesting point. However, I think that children are not by and large educated about such things in school. Yet, to branch off from this it is a testament to two things of significant concern. Foremost, I am doubtless that your sister could quickly rattle off a top fourty list or tell me who won an oscar. Children of today seem to be ridiculously ignorant on all subjects that matter, but uber-educated on those that don't. Consider this a sign of the times. America is being dumbed down. Secondly, Do you think that the subjects offered in schools may be slightly obsolescent? A wholescale revamping of high school education and iots goals is probably in order. Education ideally should be tailored to the requisites of individuals and their chosen fields.
