All in fun... It's pretty funny when someone talks about lack of education and can't put a sentence together.

Your post is not helping my case...... Although I did say we will make sure the basics should be covered. English skills are a must if you want to prove to people that you are the smart person you claim to be.

I think that they do need exposure in school. But really what were you exposed to in K-12 that helped get you into your field of work?
>>>Plenty. Particularly the math part. I have to admit, I simply enjoyed the science and history parts.

As far as curiosity.... if you look at the numbers of kids dropping out of school, couriosity is the last thing they appear to have in school. However, if we stopped treated their report card as a sign of intelligence...and we stopped forcing them to memorize garbage that they are not interested in and started focusing on what get's them learning and wanting to learn....
>>>It's a chicken/egg thang, but that's my point. If you're allowed to learn only what you WANT to learn, how do you know when you might want to learn something new?

That's one of the best ways I've seen it put.

So, perfect... by High School you could have been learning college level math, science and history....you wouldn't have been held up by the kids who were determined NOT to learn it, did not care to learn it, and only took up the teacher's time.

I don't think I said "learn only what you WANT to learn", I said, or meant to say, Focus in the academic areas that kids show the most strength. The teachers and the parents can see clearly by 6th grade which subjects the kids excel in.

Also, I agree that they need to have options, in the earlier years introduce everything... but after elementary focus MOST energy into subjects that "keep" the student interested. It keeps them interested in learning, keeps them in school and less apt to be dropping out and/or hanging out with "troubled" kids (although I think there would be less toubled kids), and in doing those things, by the time they were "College-bound", they WANT to go to college, and they would be more willing to look explore additional interests that they would never have found had they just quit school all together.
