Once again, we see rightards representing the "party of personal responsibility" by trotting out scapegoats for the failure of some students to learn. How 'bout the notion that students who fail, and their parents, are responsible for their failure?

Of course, there are going to be some bad teachers, but a motivated kid with an average IQ will learn, anyway. You can lead a horse to water, but we need to be able to drown some of the lazy nags and those who raised them.

Teachers can't be blamed for poor education, anymore thna your neighbor can be blamed for teaching your kid bad morals. MOM and DAD are responsible for their children. Period.

Teachers are Government-Paid, Corporate-Employed, Union-Members. You should expect NOTHING from them. Even if their heart is in the right place, they don't make the rules.

Compare Schools to any other type of business: ever see a factory lower their standards simply because management wasn't capable of meeting goals? Schools do it all the time. Ever see a small-business owner who would allow one patron to disrupt business with the rest of his customers? Unruly kids are passed on grade after grade instead of being expelled back into mommy and daddy's laps. Ever see a company whose quality control was plummeting, so they decided to charge the customers more and more instead of simply firing those responsible? Public Schools continue to fail our children and continue to demand that more money is the answer.

Then, if you found a company run like that, would you actually blame the employees? They're getting PAID to screw up...with BENEFITS! Why should they improve? Would you blame the business owner? Heck no! He's running an incompetent operation, and charging customers more and more for CRAP...and he keeps getting more and more sales!

You'd blame the customers for continuing to PAY for defective, damaged, unreliable products and services. Or, in the case of schools, you'd blame Mom and Dad who can SEE everything that's wrong, and STILL ship their kids off every day to a place they KNOW is incompetent, even if they get all their news from exclusively Liberal sources!

Leave the teachers out of it...they're living the fat, lazy American dream. They're supposed to teach our kids. Plain and simple. But nobody's gonna make them do it. They'll just keep lowering the standards and adjusting the curves to make it look like we have a competent education system, while at the same time declaring how miserably underfunded they are and assuring us that just a little bit more CASH will fix everything...just a little bit more...and more...and we get LESS than nothing in return. We get dumber and dumber kids by the decade.

Teachers are at the BOTTOM of the ladder here, not the top. Parents are at the top, and first in responsibility to their kids. But they're too self-absorbed to actually DO anything. As long as they squawk once or twice at the PTA meetings, they feel they've done all they can...and get back to their credit card bills and satellite TV.
