Middle School Birth Control
Quote:
PORTLAND, Maine - After an outbreak of pregnancies among middle school girls, education officials in this city have decided to allow allow one school's health center to make birth control pills available to girls as young as 11.
King Middle School will become the first middle school in Maine to make a full range of contraception available, including birth control pills, patches and condoms. There are no national figures on how many middle schools provide such services. Most middle schoolers range in age from 11 to 13.

Alright, does anyone else find this a little sad about where our schools are going these days? This shouldn't even be an issue at that age.

This is very true. But starting at 11 years old? O my goodness these kids are still going through pupurty for another how many years? 11? I mean even the "Old" 8th graders are still so very young. No, we can't ignore the problem but I think it really speaks to the decadence of our culture when this has become a problem.

It is sad , to say the least . It would be nice if these young ladies waited till they were old enough to make a educated decision about sex before having sex.
That being said , I imagine that the number of young girls who have abortions that come from homes where the parents stick their heads in the sand and say " my child is not doing that" Are quite high. I imagine the number of abortions could be cut in half if we start giving kids better knowledge about birth control. And STD's will be cut in 1/2 too. Kids from evangelical homes who's parents cannot be talked to by the children are at the most risk of unwanted pregnancies IMHO. I've seen it again and again. Young ladies who could not talk to mom and dad because mom and dad would only tell them , no sex till your married , doesn't matter that many of these same moms and dads had sex before they were married. They will tell you
" I don't want my kids to make the same mistakes I did."...........Heard that before?...............Hundreds of times ........... There is a high percentage of young ladies like this who get pregnant and have a abortion , or keep the child and have a really hard life to live for many years. I say it can't hurt to make sure they have the info.
Two wrongs never make a right , and its wrong to not give kids info on birth control just because you think its wrong for them to have sex .
If people don't like it they should put their kids in home school or private schools where they can control what the kid is exposed to.
some Junior high kids do have sex, some junior high kids do get pregnant , some junior high kids can catch things ajax won't wash off. So they need the information.
Now I would prefer that we give them the information and not hand the stuff out in schools but I guess this is the logical progression of things.

Where are the parents and what the fuck are THEY doing?
Not being parents if they aren't talking to their kids.
I started talking to my son about girls and sex when he was 8.
He's 13 & curious, but knows the ups and and downs and DANGERS.

Heckler, but many parents don't talk to their kids about sex. My own parents didn't talk to me about it when I was a kid growing up in the 60's. I like you talked to my kids when they were growing up about sex. My kids are all grown and have families of their own. I hope that they are talking to their kids like I did with them.

Here you go students need the parents signed written permission to be seen at the health center.
Birth Control In Middle School | Gloob.TV
Think that pretty much says it all, the Kids need written permission to go to the student health center. All a parent has to do is not give permission.
That settles that.
Geez its starting already, all this talking points on moral issues before the primaries.
