Why do I care.....I'll tell you why OB, most conservatives, who have bought into the lie about taxes in general, have tried to justify and rationalize over 27 years of Republican borrow and spend economic policies while giving huge tax benefits to the richest 5% of Americans.

Ya see conservatives like you and Joe King have bought into this lie b/c it basically fits your conscientious way of thinking (maybe handed down-by-your parents or your environments) concerning us against them and taxes in general.

Middle class Conservatives will say how much in taxes they are saving----yet fail to prove how much they are saving by stating how much money they make....for fear someone will do the research based on their tax to income bracket to expose just how much of a tax saving they did or did not actually achieve.

let's put it this way ... we have been in the 25% federal tax bracket ...

to break that down on an hourly basis ... for every 4 days - the government gets a day ...

that is too much .... considering that some family making $63,700 annually only pays 15%

Why can't you pay the same as my wife and I do?

Where is the EQUALITY?
Where is the motivation to be honest about paying taxes?

Why should someone be singled out because they tried harder to do a bit better for themselves?

That is why tax breaks are needed.

In my opinion - if EVERYONE paid the same percentage in taxes - then tax breaks wouldn't be fair!

... but so long as the poor demand more - those who don't qualify as poor need help too!

Look at Head Start vouchers (as an example) - a family who hits something like $65,000 a year (before taxes - $48,750 AFTER taxes) gets squat plus higher taxes and no medical help - and to people like you ... THIS IS FAIR??

that doesn't count state tax (which in this state is ANOTHER 7.75%) nor the tax on tax refunds which have ALREADY been taxed once!

And what is your utopia OB, are you fine with the richiest 5% in this country only paying 15% of their total income in taxes, while the Bush tax plan passed on the majority of the tax load onto people like myself, yourself, and Joe King!!!

The tax uptopia (as you call it!) would be to repeal the Reagan-Bush tax cuts and return the taxes to what was being paid in 1960!!!

Then Joe King and myself, as well as your husband would have more money in our pockets after taxes.

Try some FACTS .... PLEASE ...

$174,850 and above pays 35% just in Federal tax ... $61,197.50 just in Federal taxes - that is REALLY FAIR!!

Look at the return on donating a car to a charity

Quote:
Does Charity Car Donation Still Make Sense Under Tougher IRS Rules? The biggest incentive, though, came from the tax deduction. At the time, the IRS was allowing donors to deduct the "fair market value" of the donated car from their taxes. So donating the Nissan, whose market value was about $2,400, meant $792 off my taxes (assuming a 33-percent tax bracket). Every year, more than a million Americans donated their cars just like this.
Nice TAX BREAK - huh? $792.00 write off on a car that could sell for $2,400.00

Damn those RICH people from taking advantage of those Tax Breaks!

And if Bush was trying to give the working guy a tax break over the last 7 years.....why did he not use his veto pen to change charity donations. Bush also had a Republican Majority over the last 6 years to change charity donations that benefited the working class but, both Bush and GOP majority in congress failed to do so.

I this how much someone pays under the current Bush tax cuts? Would 174K income pay 61k in taxes or 35% if we repealed the Reagan-Bush tax cuts and used the 1960's tax rate for everyone? Answer that question?
