If you read my post, youj will see I was not claiming that there werent probelems before, and I even laid out the reasons for the problems.

The answer is NOT, to let the the drag schools down to the lowest common denominator in their communities. Kids should have a better future then their parants, not a mirror relection of their values

Genius?
Bush increased educational funding, just like every president in the past fifty years have.

SAT scores have been falling since the 60's I believe.

The people who make this partisan keep forgetting Kennedy's part in this. I think it was his idea.

You are absolutely right.

Most teachers don't like it because of accountability. Fact is, like fenian said, the kids weren't scoring very high or being educated before. Scores have been falling for at least the past thirty years and I think longer.

They won't do it. But I agree. Europeans have different schools for those kids.

Before that. Try around the time of the "Great Society".

Which could be solved with privatization. Just spend the current misapropriated funds on tuition for the poor. Simple enough. Standardized testing does no good. Federal Control does no good.

I propose privatizing, simple no?

The no child left behind act was under thought. What were they thinking? Schools are not doing well enough so lets cut their funding and make it worse, or better yet, let's blame the teachers for not forcing the students to care.
