And do you find that you're addicted to these drugs?
I mean, I do believe that while ADD is a misdiagnoses in all senses, it isn't because I don't identify the same deficiencies, nor because I don't think ADD works to solve those problems. ADD is a misdiagnoses because it is natural to feel how you're feeling. I, too, feel aloof in boring situations, and surely I've felt my share of anxiety and depression, but those feelings (fortunately or unfortunately) are part of the human experience. You do realize that the drugs you're taking, some kind of amphetamine for concentration something like Prozac for depression/anxiety, and I am assuming you're also taking sleep medication? This is a common cocktail in the western world, and not because the drugs are curative, but because thousands if not millions of people are addicted to the combination. Amphetamines have a street name... speed or crystal meth. And antidepressants are often opiate derivatives... like prozac and xanex and oxycodin... but also like methadone, morphine, and heroin.
The pharmaceutical companies have paid billions of dollars to get doctors to recommend those pills. I recommend, under the supervision of a doctor, that you detox and stop using these drugs immediately. I will admit, there are rare occasions surely when these drugs are not harmful and in fact are helpful, but these occasions are few and far between. Most of the effects of the drugs can be replicated with increased exercise and a healthier diet with less preservatives and transfatty acids.

I believe CB said he was ADD.
I've met assholes with and without ADD / ADHD. I don't think it makes a difference.

point being its not an issue that should even be brought up by a teacher, really ADD ADHD is not accurately named because its not lack of attention its selective attention

Carson, have you ever met some one with ADD or ADHD? Then have you seen them with and without meds?

That's all well and good, but if it is a barrier to a child learning then it is a real issue. Whether it be treatable by meds or behavior modification it needs to be addressed.

Thank you. My daughter's friend is academically gifted and also has ADHD. We've known her since she was 8 years old and on meds for ADHD. "Jenny" would go off on her meds for the weekend, to give her body a rest from the chemical. Holy mother of grail! She was a spaz case at our house. I told her mom she could only come over during the week, teasing, we learned to accomodate her on the weekends.
So, she's now 12. She's at that rebellious age, gone emo, her parents divorced, her mom has cancer, and "Jenny" took herself off her meds. The honors/gifted student is now a D- and is in a deep depression.

Wow. Poor gal. I hope she can get her life back on track. She definitely has the cards stacked against her.
Sounds like a true case for meds.
