A piece of paper, and a lot of student loan debt. The "American Dream" is paraded around, just as the proliferation of on-line degrees, "purchased degrees". Preying on the hopes and dreams of people (market). Those that have have. Those that have not, get out of denial. Hidden barriers, not on paper, but they're there. The establishment has and will do anything and everything possible to ensure you don't have an equal opportunity to achieve it. It's not what you know, but whom your affiliated with. It's hard if not possible to move out of the social economic class you are born in. My philosophy professor told me this a long time ago. Didn't believe him then, now older and wiser, its the truth. We're at the end of a cycle. All markets are mature, no more land to find and a population that is out of control, the j shaped curve and were close to the end of it. Moreover, I got my degree the traditional way. Link is as follows:

Nobody is tied to any socio-economic group. If you are not successful look into the mirror, you might find the problem. As far as further economic opportunities, move out of Kansas and you might find there are plenty of opportunities for those who don't sit around complaining about how they are being kept down.

Your born in one! Not successful, thats all in ones opinion. The post was in regards to SOCIAL MOBILITY in America. There are many articles on this subject. I didn't pull it out of my ass. I'm a Jayhawker and damn proud of it. If you don't like to debate, why are you in this forum. Moreover, if your not a coward you would register.

Im pretty sure MJFs post was about social mobility. And MJF made the same point I did. If you get off your ass and change your social standing then you can progress. If you wont work then its your own fault. The only one keeping you were you are is yourself.

So 21, what's your secret. How'd you get to be a millionaire by 21? Sheer Genius? Win the lottery? Hand out from wealthy relatives?

I wish it was that easy. I dont come froma wealthy family. The secret is to invest your money wisely and invest all that you can. Dont live out side of your means and cut out all extra-curricular activities.
You dont have to eat t-bone when you can eat ground chuck. you dont need cable or sattilie tv. You dont need a big house, and you dont need to go out every now and then. Its the theory of delayed gratification. Work hard when you are a young enough to work hard, that way when you are older you can do what you want. I plan to.
I'm no genius, I'm not any smarter than anyone else, just more disciplined. And if you wait for the lottery to save you then you are no better than the dead-beat on wealfare. Its still a hand out, just one that I dont have a problem with its exsistence.
Find a niche in society by offering a service people need. For me its computers. Sell that service cheaper than anyone else but still at a profit. Make sure that you offer a better quality product than your compitition. Its hard work, dilligence, and discipline.

If he were really a millionaire he wouldn't be announcing it on an open forum!
Sorry 21, but your tactic is opaque.
