I don't think the farmers are at fault here. There's more to farming than just putting in the seed and seeing dollar signs. And farming has never been cheap. The corporations are who you pay to eat, very seldom the farmer himself, directly. Individual farms and farming will soon be a thing of the past. At the current costs to farm, most farmers will be put out of business real soon. Then you'll get to pay whatever the market will allow, or starve.

I run a farm of sorts, a chicken farm. I produce about 25,000 to 75,000 chicks per year. I really want to blame the farmer for my feed costs, I really do. Fact is, it's not the farmer who's to blame. Everyone has blame !! But to want to tax the farmer for making money while his prices and costs are higher than ever, is wrong. It's an inherent thing, it just appears that the farmer is making a windfall while all the while his costs are rising too. What shall the farmer do ? Give you his work for free ? Lose his ass to keep costs to you low ? I don't know about the rest of you, but I'm pretty sure that without farmers, were gonna be up shit creek.

Here in California, the state, county and city governments have declared a drought. I live in the central part of the state. Without water and capital to grow crops, most of the world will go hungry, even worse than is already taking place around the globe.

Farmers produce just about everything on your table. This includes beef, pork, poultry, veggies, dairy products and even the stuff to make beer. We should have to pay him allot more than we do. Most farmers are on call 24 hours a day, were damn lucky to have him amongest us. He toils daily to keep us fed and provide himself with a little income. Tax the corporations all you think they deserve, but the "lowly looked down on farmer" will bring the food to your table, many times at a capital loss. He makes his living by accumulation as some producing years are losses and some years are gains.

Anyway, I'm sure the middle men in all of this are the real players, making the farmer look like the bad guy. He's not !!!
