When contrasted with the ridiculous compensation recieved my many CEOs, there is obviously a questionable balance.....IMO

yeah, kind of muddied that last part...sorry

yes, I will explain, but I don't have time at the moment....
Why does the amount of money a CEO makes upset so many people? How much is too much? How much is just the right amount? Who decides how much you should or shouldn't be paid?

It's a matter of perceived fairness. Even Bush recognizes that compensation is out of whack:

“The fact is that income inequality is real. It has been rising for more than 25 years,” the president said. “The earnings gap is now twice as wide as it was in 1980,” Bush said, adding that more education and training can lift peoples’ salaries.

As for the earlier comments, immediately after WWII we were the only major industrialized nation that wasn't bombed into rubble. We had a huge economic advantage becuase of that, not because of an inherent superiority of America, which seems to be what many have assumed....

All of this still does not answer the question of production outsourcing. Is outsourcing our production of cheap consumer commodities a bad thing? 120 years ago 80 percent of the American economy was made up of farm labor. Today its down to around 10 percent yet we are feeding vastly more people. Would it have been good for this country to not industrialize and just left those people on the farm? Just what are we outsourcing? It seems to me its primarily those things that we all benefit from being able to purchase at a lower price. Big ticket items are still made here. Technology to build those items abroad is created here and ultimately the profits from the manufacturers who are outsourcing returns here.

Any comments?
