What makes people want to bow down to corporate greed?

Still trying to figure out who's doing the gouging. In the first quarter of 2008 Exxon paid the highest taxes for a fiscal quarter of any company in American history. When you consider that the federal tax is 18-cents a gallon and Exxon is making somewhere between 8 and 9 cents a gallon it makes you wonder who's screwing you at the pump.
Here's another jewel: Exxon paid more taxes in the first quarter of '08 than more than half the people in the U.S.
Now the democrats favorite little pimp Henry Waxman is going to call the oil companies in for a hearing so he can "get to the bottom of things." What a jag off.

Yeah, but exxon has more money than 90% of americans, combined.
The people that charge you 18c a gallon also provide the roads you drive on, the police to keep them safe, and all the other pieces of infrastructure that you take for granted.
Exxon gives you gas. Hell, if it wasn't profitable, would they still be selling it? Business 101.

Not sure about you, but I ain't getting screwed by them. You might want to consider adding some oil stocks to your retirement account. But then again, maybe you're just looking for a government handout.

Exxon is kind of a large corporation, empploying thousands of people and supporting hundreds of thoussand if not millions of stockholders. I think they're supposed to have more money than 90% of Americans. Never the less, I'd love to see where you get your numbers.

Exxon is kind of a large corporation, employing thousands of people and supporting a couple hundred thousand if not millions of stockholders. I think they're supposed to have more money than 90% of Americans. Never the less, I'd love to see where you get your numbers.
