Yeah our government sucks no doubt about it but that is completely off topic

And its really great forward looking efficiency to decrease funding available for Community Colleges & Technical Colleges, while at the same time increasing the length of prison sentences for youthful drug offenders. once again our government sucks, so what
The real issue here, is what sort of Nation do we want to be? It may be an unpopular thing to say, but capitalism in a democratic nation should have limits. Profit is the driving force behind capitalism: the public wellfare must be the driving force within a democracy: I think the public's state is already too pampered, the government needs to do less not more without a vibrant society to serve & sell thing to, corporations would be non-exsistent. ....pjwky
your right, of course there are many unAmerican societies

I know Iraq has become a chinese finger trap. It is the U.S. government that is the problem. They have the purse. If they would put their footdown, (like they should) all this bullshit with halliberton would stop. Halliberton will cut corners to make more profit for as long as the customer, the government will let them.

Left alone (with a very rare exeption) markets will balance out. The economy is like the enviorment. Screw with one part and you screw up a whole lot you never intended to screw with.

Proof please of all these incidents.
Check out CSPAN's website or look up their coverage. All my comments were based on testimony of various individuals who were former employees of Halliburton. I watched that testimony in full.

And before you give me that tired "Disgruntled employee" bit, know that each of them actually made a ton of money out of the deal and have generous severence packages. They aren't pressing charges, they're just testifying before the comittee because they had previously filed ethical grievances.

My point was only that the very logic that allows the government to create contracts like this is the one I forwarded at the begining fo the thread.
