First the Fed has limits set by Congress and Congress can at any time legislate the actions of the Fed (and it does every time it orders the Fed to buy US treasury bonds so more Federal Reserve Notes can be issued but I won't discuss that here; too complicated).

Second can the Fed establish an interest rate? Does that rate effect (disincentive or incentive) the actions of a Bank or person?

If the answer is yes....

SouthernPlanter;

These people that make up the Federal Reserve our not the people, I'm talking about. A point could be made that Zionist Jews have ran the Fed practically since its creation in Dec. 22 1913 while most were home for the Holiday season. Greenspan and now Bernanke. Let me school you on the Federal Reserve:

Donald Kohn

Another Zionist Jew; Is this for America or is that why Israel gets over $37million a day from American Tax Payers. No more of my Tax dollars and no more American Blood to fight the Zionist, racist, Nationalist, Imperialist, Jewish Supremist movement. They like all others, can fend for themselves. Let free markets be free, let civilization be free, it would be the best for the world

What's wrong with the Fed decision?

I doubt you're cut-throat enough to have been a Broker in the times before regulatory institutions such as the FED and SEC.

Back in those days there was real trading and real scamming going on...ruining the country. We should be so thankful.
Southern Planter, with all due respect you are not that bright.

The Federal Reserve is a Corporation. Governmental Regulatory Institutions do not sell shares to the private sector. As the Federal Reserve does.

Regulation is the act of regulating something. The Federal Reserve supposedly regulates the value of Federal Reserve Notes. It does not regulate the value. It prints and cirrculates money. The by product of their actions is the only thing regulated.

Symantics aside. Noone has any regulation over the value of our currency. Our Currency (Federal Reserve Notes) are regulated by consumer demand, Inflation, Foreign Markets and Government Deficits.

How can someone regulate the value of something that can not be controlled or regulated? Such as federal Reserve notes. It opens up a can of worms when you realize the cost of inflation to our monetary policy and the dangers it poses to our savings.

Truth is, the Federal Reserve has never been audited by Congress. Meetings of some components of the Fed are held behind closed doors, and the transcripts are released with a lag of five years.

The money we use is "regulated" by countless entities and phenomenon that determine the value of our money. Mostly, by the amount of it in cirrculation which is usually, ultimately determined by foreign central banks.

Ask yourself again, what does the Federal Reserve Regulate? Invisible Interest Rates? Value of Federal Reserve Notes?

Nope. Truth is our money is in a strangle hold since we got off of the Gold and Silver Standards of the 1970s.
