Default America..Capitalism or Communism?

Communism is generally considered the opposite of Capitalism

DEFINITION: Capitalism

provides a direct reward for accomplishment to those who do the work.
(However, sometimes the reward goes to those who own the work and not those who do the work, as in the case of monopolies.

DEFINITION: Communism distributes the reward for accomplishment, ideally equally, amongst those who did the work and those who did little or nothing.
Was Jesus Christ the greatest communist to have ever lived?
Is Socialism perhaps only a fancy word for Communism?

Socialism: “From each according to his ability, to each according to his deeds”.

Communism: “From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs”

Perhaps the definition of Socialism verses Communism simply changes the term or leeway for distribution of other people’s work from ‘need’ to ‘deed’ i.e. meaningless since ‘deed’ can be as vague or more vague as ‘need’.
We could then determine how Communistic a country is based on the proportion of tax or labor a citizen must contribute to the State. i.e. The U.S.A. where the average citizen pays around 60% of their income to 33,000+ taxation bodies, could now fit the definition of a Communistic or Socialist country U.S.S.A. (Most people forget to add ALL the taxes they pay - telephone, real-estate, gas, tire etc.).

1776 - U.S.A.

United States of America 1930 - U.S.S.A?

United Soviet States of America?

A key issue society commonly struggles with, is the taking care of the needy. The question must be asked when the responsibility of caring for the needy moves from that of the families responsibility to that of the State? Common services are also a problem in that it is sometimes difficult to get people to pay their fair share. For example a shared rural road.
Democracy

Communism and Capitalism need not be related to a democratically elected government. However, democracy is the Communism of citizens’ decisions. I.e. making the action of a government reflect that of the common vote.Democracy, perhaps, defines mediocrity since one takes the median of the votes and makes this the decision. I.e. decisions are based on the median intelligence / discernment.

The U.S.A. is not a Democracy, it is a Republic. Officials are elected from regions to represent and vote for those in their region.
Perhaps the problems we are experiencing with representation in the U.S. is due to the size of representatives regions? I.e. one can never really know the individual you are electing because the representative populous is too large. Does the Swiss Canton provide a better model, did the Greeks have it right? Clearly the structure of governments live and die like the rest of us.

Could the country who invested the most to fight Communism now be Communistic? If the average U.S. citizen pays more than 50% of their income in one form or another to the State, is the U.S. Socialist? The Boston Tea Party was a revolution over a 2% to a 5% tax.

Look at the Communist Manifesto.

We seem to have adopted a lot of it, in the 20th Century.

Only a matter of time before Property Ownership is outright banned...

Property ownership by the many. Remember that select persons could own things in the old Soviet empire.

Here, ownership would go to loyal party (socialist, Democrat, whatever...) elites, only. The leftists in here are pathetic because they don't understand that they are not the elite, and would suffer to a lesser degree than those of us who worked to get what we have (libs just have trustfunds and inheritances, or parents who buy them things) but would still suffer.

If you read the Communist Manifesto. Every single plank of the Manifesto is just a subtle form to abolish Property Rights. When property Rights are gone, you have no rights.

Right...but after the Soviet communists were in charge of Russia, as we know, while all animals were equal, some were MORE equal.

That's what the socialist elites have in plan for America, and their useful idiots like so many in here and of course their 5th Column, the media don't seem to realize that they will just be more sheep to be controlled like the rest of us.

Of course here, with no history of feudal peasantry, it will be necessary to take away our property a bit at a time. Guns will be a good way to start. They are working very hard on making private ownership of an automobile illegal under the auspices of "saving our Mother, the Earth."

Our children are already viewed by the courts as the physical property of the school whether they are at school or at home.

I'm sure this will all just increase once a Hillary or Osama Obama is in office with a majoritiy-socialist Congress rubber stamping any edicts they send out.

Default Socialism defined

I have been studying this problem for some time. It seems to me have began in the 1960's when the DSHS was first formed.
The argument then was that welfare statism was in contradiction to capitalism and consumer protectionism in that the system was based on regulatory standards which could not be enforced. Since all one had to do was meet minimum standards to be acceptable to the public, minimum standards would inevitably become the maximum. It would lower the standard of living in America.
Since then, the Welfare budget has been growing at about the same pace that the Education budget has been shrinking. Americans are now in danger of losing their economic superiority in the world because of lack of education in respect to what they need to be educated for to be successful in the global economy.
In essence, welfare statism does not work any better than communism and is in essence, socialism. It's a downward economic spiral, as the former Soviet Union has learned. China knows this and capitalism is being incorporated into their economy, with great success.
Welfare statism undermines the family institution. It undermines the economy, and this country got along just fine for 200 years without it. I say let's put that money back into education for a better tomorrow.
On the question of property rights, government has recently passed legislation that empowers the government to take control of property that it determines it needs. In addition, the government can gerrymander your vote out of any given district. Bush started that down in Texas when he was governor, he calls it political credit.
This country was originally a confederacy, for the first 10 years of it's existence. It adopted a federal government to collect taxes and provide a military for protection. Many in the south wanted to go back to being a confederacy, and that's what the Civil War was really all about.
My point is this, the system works. You can't fight against the system and expect to win. But you can become a part of the system and change it from within. In that respect, we are still a democracy. The wrong people have gained control of the system are changing it not for the people, but in spite of them. We need to get the right people back in control of government. The people need to take a much closer look at who they are voting for in all levels of government.

Property ownership shouldn't be banned, it should be taxed heavily based on assets and frowned upon for bringing dissent into the greater collective good.

Pfft...

All rights are derived from Property. Either ownership of Land or ownership of yourself and body. Disregard one, and you have forfeited all the rights to your property.

Collectivism or any form of Communism fails, in that no economy can sustain itself forevor on a communist or Socialist model. You run out of resources too quickly.

Thats why the Soviet Union needed to Invade nation after nation in pursuit of the most basic resources to sustain itself.

Show me where Socialism has triumphed. And I will show you over a million people slaughtered to get there.
