We see this all the time in politics, each of them are going to change they way they view something. Hell we asked for change so why get our panties in a wad when they change?
I agree with you to a point.

The difference between Obama and McCain (regarding flip flops) is that McCains change on a daily basis, so how can a voter know where he really stands.

I posted this in response to a thread I read yesterday that said a flip flopper as no business being president. Although not my first choice, Obama WILL be the next president.

Both are flip flopping. Obama is just doing it in a different way he is flip flopping in a more discrete way. he is changing his mind but very slowly and with out commitment to the change. He was happy about the gun law change in DC but then countered it with there needs to be more laws to make it harder to get a gun.

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Barack Obama, who informs campaign audiences that he taught constitutional law for 10 years, might be expected to weigh in on the historic Second Amendment case before the U.S. Supreme Court. The justices are pondering whether the 1976 District of Columbia law effectively prohibiting personal gun ownership in the nation's capital is constitutional. But Sen. Obama has not stated his position.

Obama, disagreeing with the D.C. government and gun control advocates, declares the Second Amendment's "right of the people to keep and bear arms" applies to individuals, not just the "well-regulated militia" cited in the amendment. In the next breath, he asserts this constitutional guarantee does not preclude local "common sense" restrictions on firearms. Does the Draconian prohibition for Washington, D.C., fit that description? My attempts to get an answer have proved unavailing. The front-running Democratic presidential candidate is doing the gun dance.

That is a dance of many Democrats, revealed by my private conversations with the party's strategists. As urban liberals, they reject constitutional protection for gun owners. As campaign managers, they want to avoid re-enacting the fate of many Democratic candidates who lost elections because of gun control advocacy. The party's House leadership last year pulled off the floor a bill for a District of Columbia congressional seat in order to save Democratic members from having to vote on a Republican amendment against the D.C. gun law.

Funny thing about that proposed handgun ban is that Chicago has had one in effect for 25 years and there have been more shootings in Chicago recently than ever before.

So hand gun bans DON'T work.

    NEVER have.

    NEVER will.

True, When you take the guns away the only people you are taking them away from are the law abiding people that use them for hunting and sports.
Self defense is another reason but then again they would have bought the gun legally.

The flip flop thing is just a way for one side or the other to point things out, and try to make a case for themselves. Both side's have flipped on several issues.

They both need to come out with a no bull shit plan and stick to it. Spelled out for eveyone to see and then let us make the decision on which one we the voters think is going in the direction we think it should go in.

The plan has to be spelled out for everyone to read and not just some bs saying they want to change something. Give us the Details of this change and the plan to get us there. That goes for all canadates.

I am still undecided untill election day.

I just want a no bull plan that I can make a decision on bassed on what I think needs to be done.

Although I am in complete agreement on this, I just can't help thinking "there's no place like home, there's no place like home" while clicking my heels together.

Unfortunately, I don't see that happening to that degree this election. However, Obama's website DOES make a pretty good effort. Admittedly, I haven't seen McCain's (IF he even has one) Just enough of what I know of him and the republican party makes me go half black.

Chef, I have grown to respect you over the last couple of months and you are FAR better than this. We both know that you have a brain and I truly don't mean to insult you, but c'mon man....
You brought up McCain's changing positions as a reason to not vote for him. I believe you are correct as it shows a lack of principle. Your buddy has proven that Obama in much less time has flip flopped even more often. As you think flip flopping is not a reason to vote for a candidate then I am going to ask for you to write me in for president for you cannot in good conscience vote for Obama a man who makes McCain seem steadfast.
You don't have to be crazy to be a liberal, but it helps.

You can lead a liberal to wisdom, but you cannot make him think.

Never in the endeavors of mankind have so many owed so much due to so few, thanks to Obama and his posse acting stupidly. Maybe it is time for him to calibrate his spending.

Steve Benen’s list of McCain flip-flops: And that’s not all. There’s many many more. In fact, here’s an even longer list. McCain has reversed his former positions to fall more in line with the Bush administration so many times now it’s really hard to tell Bush and McCain apart (can you beat my 3 out of 5 on the first try?). It might actually be easier to list the issue(s) McCain hasn’t (yet) flip-flopped on, although I can’t think of a single one right offhand.
Yea he sound too much like a liberal, Oh wait he is.
