Unhappy 7 to 8 year old girl flashes knife

It would appear that those wild and dangerous teens that some of us use to hate to come in contact with are getting more violent at a much younger age.

Little girl flashes knife as she tries to steal toys

Largo, Florida - Largo Police are looking for a little girl who pulled a knife on a Wal-Mart clerk as she tried to steal two boxes of Lego toy blocks.

It happened on the Missouri Avenue around 9:00 pm Tuesday night.

Police say the 7 to 8-year-old girl hid the toys under her coat and tried to walk out the door.

A store employee was watching and approached the child, asking her to turn over the Lego blocks.

Police say the little girl then opened her jacket and displayed a combo carving knife with a forked point and a 10" blade, saying she was armed for protection.

The employee talked the girl into putting down the knife and the toys.

The girl then rode away on her bicycle.

The employee was not hurt.

Unfortunately, it happens more than most people know about.

I think I can safely say that if this one gets caught her parents have some serious answering to do to the authorities. Who on earth lets a 7 to 8 year old child out of the house with a combo carving knife with a 10" blade? She had to learn that kind of behavior somewhere.

It is a sad sign of our times that they are becoming younger. they used to advise to get you child involved in extracurricular activities. Now I don't think that these are even detourants. We really need to spend more time with our children.

I would like to know what this forum thinks are the main social reasons this is happening.
1. The women's movement, leaving our children home alone.
2. More and more men abdicating their responsibilities.
3. Schools losing their authority to dicipline children
4. Parents losing their authority to dicipline children.

These are just a few, but arguably some of the main reasons, wouldn't you think.

I agree, but for the most part I would say poor parenting in general. What is an eight year kid doing out and about alone and with a knife no less...

Try being security at a mall. I have to deal with this on a daily basis.
You have parents that drop their 8-15 yr old off at the mall like it is a babysitter. The biggest problem we have with theft, fighting, and vandalism is with children under the age of 15.
Just work one Friday or Saturday night at the mall and it will change your view of these little *&@#$&'s
For the most part I blame it on bad and lousy parenting. If parent tosay would do their job and raise kids right things would change.
If parent would try a little more discipline (and I am not talking about time out) and a little less tolerance kids might just start acting right.

Two questions
1) How the hell did she get a knife without her parents knowledge?
2)What is a 7-8 yr old doing riding her bike alone with parent supervision?

Answer The parents either don't care and let her do what ever she wants or they are just peices of shit that do not know how to raise a child.

Some people do not ever need to have children. You should have to pass an common sense test before being allowed to have children.
