Dom: Thank you. We must have been posting at the same time.
Closed caption on the internet?? I think not. "turn up the TV" is like saying "turning on a light"...one disability does not outrank another. FYI: my sister was "legally blind" until she had laser eye surgery. I suggest you read the ADA before spewing you're hatred, you dope. Yeah, a play on semantics.

You then post about how being handicapped is horrible, which depending on the handicap, I would agree. Do you see the inconsistency in that you criticize someone who isn't complaining about a deficiency. Are only some handicaps or deficiencies legitimate in your eyes? Only an asshole would make the statement you made in response to that.

DOM1 I was pointing out that total blindness is a lot different than marginal hearing loss. And for those with marginal hearing loss we have applications in place to them (my grandmother suffers from this) I wouldn't have taken on "Dope" tone if she hadn't come across like these people weren't just cry babies how sue over anything. My own personal journey with being handicapped is new so it's in the most horrible phase, I suppose the point I was making was that thing can BE MUCH MUCH WORSE and making people feel included should be a goal in our society (WITHOUT HAVING TO SUE)

Read the ADA, Nazi. I can't follow your direction in this thread. BTW: you have no clue how little or how much hearing loss that I have, so don't assume anything.

No... you came across like these guys were cry babies or didn't have a right to sue over this issue. Where do you get off, then you bring up an afliction that sounded like it was marginal not total that has a applications in place to help you. You might as well be making fun of MJF with rush (you probably loved that little skit) Just go to bed tonight and count your blessings you have no idea how terrible this existense can be fore some.

You can point any of those things out without putting down her handicap, no matter how severe or mild it is. You may have a valid point, but when you say it in the manner you did it can only come off one way.
What if there was someone who had severe hearing problems and I said quit your whining, atleast you are not blind . . . dope? Probably wouldn't the right thing to say in my opinion.
And what would it matter if a disability was marginal or severe? Should we just call the people names or make light of a disabliity because we don't perceive it as serious enough to warrant consideration? Exactly how severe does a handicap have to be before we say, "well, we shouldn't put their handicap down, because it crossed that line into serious."

It was the tone of the thread... I felt like she was coming down on these people for suing and were cry babies... so I attacked her.

I too suffer from something called MAV. It causes severe tinnitus and hearing problems. Turn up the television you say??? I would love too, but if the sound is completely distorted at a normal level, how in the hell is turning it up going to be any better? Want to relate? Think of the worst drunk you have ever been on, to the point you are going to pass out, that is how most days are for me, but I do not drink. Hearing...I wish I could hear half the sounds you do, instead of this constant ringing in my ears that keeps getting louder and doesn't go away. Closed caption, with this disease...lol Not gonna happen either, you can't stand the glare on the screen or the flashing lights in the background, or watching someone walk or move.
Walk a mile in my shoes pal...then figure out who the dope is!!!!

First thing... I was attack Lady because she was attacking these people suing for equal treatment.
But thorn you bring up a very interesting point. I was hit by a drunk driver a hear and month ago and lost my legs. I suffer from masive nerve damage which causes pain constantly in the lower half of my body. Drugs help it some but as I right this I have stabbing pain going through my right side that forces me to stop typing. After the accident happened I did think (I've been told it's normal) where I would play in my head "what would be worse" and there are things that worse, there are afflictions that are at a higher scale. I would take deafness in sec to have my legs back, perception is all we know so a handicap is devasting to 10 to whom ever it lies in. So we should all be treated as equal but I would still give anything for loss of hearing ANYTHING... and I play that game in my head everyday. It's sad....and hard.
