And what right does the Sate Court have in overturning the will of the people? As I said, there are no "humanitarian" concerns, and civil unions very well cover any and all legal advantages that marriage offers. The people have spoken. And indeed it will be a Federal Case if there is an appeal. As the "court" does not possess the inherent right to "opine new law" form the bench and that indeed is what happened, as they try to "redefine" marriage by Court Order, for that indeed is a Federal concern, and a breech of the US Constitution, as marriage is not. It's just like legislation preventing interracial marriage, or any other civil-rights issue.
Mob rule is often unconstitutional.

The state supream court overturned a law that was contrary to the state constitution. They did their job. Now if the people really want to follow up on this they can try to place a measure to ammend the constitution on the Nov ballot. Only this time they should insure it a properly written.
