From the article:

"His detention for six years, without the most basic due process, is a grave injustice and represents a threat to all journalists working in conflict areas," said Joel Simon, executive director of the New York-based Committee to Protect Journalists.

Just a few of the ways bushco has destroyed the values of this country.

Boo hoo, reporters can not aid the Al Qaida in killing Americans when a Republican is President.

Vote Democrat to restore these valuable civil rights!

So, you want the US Constitution to apply to Non-Citizens in a time of War, you want to pay for their representation, AND give them the "right" to sue the US?

Hi Amazed,

During Sami al-Hajj's incarceration, what legal system applied to him? And according to the article, he was never charged with a crime. I don't know about paying for his representation, but I'm not sure I wanted to pay for his 6-year incarceration either....especially one that ended in no charges whatsoever.

Agree-- and besides, are we safer by setting a precedent that democracies hold people for years without formal charges--including children as young as 12.
