No, they get locked up for disrespecting public officials, or breaking a religious "law", or just because they object to paying bribes to the police, and the courts. Hell, in some countries they spend more time in jail, waiting for a trial, than they would in this country if convicted.

You need to go visit a real police state, George. But, back to the point: Decriminalization of drugs will cause more problems than it solves, plus cost more lives and money than the current "war on drugs". But if thats what you want WRITE YOUR REPRESENTATIVE, TELL THEM THAT, see how far you get.

My point is that we lock up too many people for too long because of bs laws and sentences, and those type of laws are no more unfair then some of ours.
You need to go visit a real police state, George. So what do you propose? How much good is it doing you to bitch about it on a political forum?

On issues that I'm involved with, or interested in, I not only write, I fax and I call. Thats one reason we still have some drug laws, and no amnesty program for illegals. With some luck, and more public awareness I hope to keep things that way.
