We hardly ever find anything that's perfect. Not you or I or the police. They have their problems too, that's why they have their Internal Affairs dept.
All in all I think we do very much need our police and probably more so with time, unless you think the streets are going to get better. I think we also need to help them, when we can, simply because they cannot do it all. They are spread kind of thin. If they are "never around when you need them"...maybe that's why.
I can just imagine what the roads would be like if no one ever got a ticket. You know what...I go five miles over the limit all the time and do not get ticketed because they do, unofficially, let you get away with that. They have bigger fish to catch, like druggies and dealers.
If you drive by and give them hard looks, for example..well, you could have a problem. No, I think the police do a fair job of keeping order and we need them, more than ever. They're ok with me.

We need to repeal a lot of arbitrary laws that Cops get all Nazi about enforcing, first. Stupid drug laws, Stupid Gun Laws, Stupid ass laws that waste law enforcement's time, when they could be policing violent crime or investigating serious crimes.

I personally don't care if a guy has drugs on him. People are gonna do drugs, inspite of the stupid laws. What I do care about is not having the resources to prevent or protect my life, and property when they are on some crusade to go on a drug bust.

The Drug war is the source of all our problems in Law Enforcement. End the Prohibition on Narcotics and you free up Cops to police actual crimes against other people..
