We are Allah’s helpers and the viziers of His Messenger. We fight people until they believe in Allah. He who believes in Allah and His Messenger has protected his life and possessions from us. As for one who disbelieves, we will fight him forever in the Cause of Allah. Killing him is a small matter to us.”
Qur’an:48:22 “If the unbelieving infidels fight against you, they will retreat. (Such has been) the practice (approved) of Allah in the past: no change will you find in the ways of Allah.”

You can't simply take verses of the quran and explain them as u wish. the verses of the quran each has a story and when you read them you also have to read when where they said and what is the story behind it.

Me myself I'm a muslim but not a true believer. i read a lot about religions, i encountered a lot of confusion moments in my life, i worked and helped in churches in my community in lebanon and here abroad, i find religious people peaceful and nice to talk too, but i can't imagine that there is a god that want people to fight in his name, whether muslims, christians and jews.

Anyway, i will try to look for these verses you posted since i usally read them in arabic. this doesn't mean that im defending it and saying it's peaceful. the only peaceful religions in life are the spiritual ones such as buddhism. other than that, i think all of them in a way or another and in some context preaches violence if not through words, through the people that take the responsibilty of spreading their religion and they turn out to be spreading poison

Umm, Christianity is a pretty peaceful religion. Given there have been some nut-jobs that try to claim they are doing God's work by wars and what not, but there is really no support for war or fighting in the Christian bible; though self defense isn't looked down upon.

Evidently not all Muslims can grasp the passages either. If they could then some of them wouldn't strap explosives to their bodies and blow up pizza parlors.

If you continue to be so dead set against this then the debate is pointless because in your head you will twist what we tell you so you can ignore it. I love how people use only the passages of the Quran that support their interests at the time.

Lets face it, there is only one religon that is totally down on killing of any kind. and who knows which that is?
