Default Everyone knows About Homeless ..

You know its sad to be ignorant to the reality of situations, but
know everything about homeless, and never have experienced
what its like. Homeless people comes in all skin-colors, and many
are homeless for many reasons. Its not all about having a education,
due to the fact that I know who have Masters and PH.Ds, and they
are homeless, sleeping where ever they can. Its not my place to
point fingers or judge them, but seeing them reminds me of where I
came from, and how it used to be because nobody seem to cared.

Everyone seems to think of a homeless person as being a alcoholic
or a dopehead, but there is homeless people who used to make
35.00 per hour, and the economic situations is so bad until their
workplace closed down which laid them off. If Education meant
so much why they can't get another job? I know guys who was in
Viet Nam with me (Fighting for this fuckin country), but they came
home to a homeless situation, and here it is 36 years later with
things no better.

Just because some of you haven't ate out of a garbage can don't
mean that you never will, and its good that many of you are living
high on Broadway (Good Things don't last forever). There is people
who is living good everyday, but they are out there looking for a
handout, and them are the ones who are making the real needy
look like they are pimping the system.

In closing, I know what its like to be homeless, but I could not
stand around having people talk shit like some of these posts, and
I got myself together now. I have been off the streets 10 years,
and within the 10 years I own my home, automobiles, have two
degrees, and co-own my own business. I am deeply involved in
the church of my choice (without anyone talking me what church
is right or wrong). I spend time with the people who is down on
luck, and I have learned NOT to point fingers or judge anyone.
(regardless to their skin-color)

I've met others in the same situation you were in. Kudos for getting your life back on track. Some people are just to dense to understand that there are good people out there on the streets that need our help.

Ghost, I am not saying homelessness does not exist or that we should do nothing for the homeless. I am saying to Lexi that he is full of shit that the subprime crisis is causing people to become homeless.

I also do not believe, no matter what you say, that someone making $35.00 an hour becomes homeless because he merely lost his job. There are other opportunities available to everyone. Its my suspicion that there were personality disorders that lead to the homelessness, not the mere loss of a job. After all he could have received unemployment for 6 months, which should have given him an opportunity to rebuild his life.

I believe people are homeless, long term, because they have some quirk in their make up that causes them to be unable to function in society. I think they may be drug addicts, or alcoholics or mentally ill. My brother in law was homeless for awhile because he is a crack addict. He, like you, got his life back togethr by the grace of God (I don't think anyone in that position can do it without some higher power guiding them)

Even during the Depression homelessness was not the big issue, people were not put on on the streets in large numbers and surely you don't think today's economy is worse than the Depression of 1932.

My point is that the subprime crisis is not increasing homelessness period and unles someone can show me solid proof of that its all just whinning and moaning on the part of those who want to see more government controls of our lives.

What caused this crisis?

Unregulated capitalism, free to scam the American public and destroy our current economy.

Oh, please, the lending industry is highly regulated. This was a result of the consumer becoming greedy and wanting to get more than he could pay for. Do you even know what the particulars are here? Have you any clue.

Only someone who either was extremely stupid when it comes to economics or someone who wants to enslave his fellow citizens would make such a statement as you made. Which are you?

You are such a numbskull Nat... I never said the subprime caused ALL homelessness but it is causing some and if you don't believe it then all I can say is , get your head out of your ass. Just because your brother in law was a crack addict doesn't mean that all the others that are homeless are like him. Some are , but not all.
You just dont' seem to be living in the real world Nat. You just sound like a smartass that doesn't care about anyone but yourself. Figures... Your life..
