Default Abortion

I would like to make apoint. No one wants an abortion. Do you think any man wants to be a woman so he can have an abortion. of course not!! Abortion whether you are pro choice or anti abortion is always tragic. My question is how do we decrease abortion. I am a nurse. Abortion statistics always rise when the economy is down, there is war and turmoil and no where to turn. why do republicans want to cut off access to birth control for teens and povery stricken people, cut services. keep minimum wage rock bottom, cut social and school programs yet they say they are against abortion. Abortion rates always rise when a republican is in office. George bush claims he is anti abortion. i do not know what he really thinks but I suspect that is a way to get votes. we cn see he does not value life. Why would anti abortion crusaders not see this. You reduce abortion by hearts minds and support not cutting every resourse, legislation, or hollow rhetoric to gain votes. Why are some religious right so easily manipulated? not all of course just extremist.

Part of the problem is that at some point, it does need to be illegal. I just don't get people who think late-term abortions are ever OK - if the child is developed enough that you could take it out and it has a chance of living on its own, then why should it be legal to abort it? It's got to be a human being at that point - and whenever it starts to be human, no one has any right to kill it. A lot of people's views on this stem from their religion, and that's why Catholics and some others are against both contraception and abortion. I think Bush genuinely wants to end it - he's had a major transformation in his life from accepting Christianity and I don't see any reason to think that's not genuine.

Bush has never valued life. He has murdered hundreds of babies and children with his "shock and awe" bombing" based on faulty intelligence. All of his policies have increased the abortion rate, He has cut all funding for birth control access. Now I know he is not real smart but I don not believe he is that naive and stupid. Unless he is cruel. Lets see his policies basically say. Its ok to murder babies that are not american. And for you young non white poverty stricken person you have no bith conntrol education or access. You have no support in any way. We will even keep minimum wage at 5.15.(lets see daycare is about 4.00 hour. You have that baby and you are so on your own. Then the crime, drugs and child abuse that goes with thats their problem George and his girls are comfortable. So what his laws trash the world. Public policy does more to reduce abortion than any law!!!! Physicains with privacy protection will continue to do abortions. Lets get serious about reducing them through real efforts not "Bush" bullshit. His policies have raised the number of abortions.

There's a big difference between people getting killed accidentally in a war and deliberately trying to murder people. It's just a reality - people are going to die. But if we hadn't done the war, thousands more babies would have died by starving because of sanctions or would have grown up to die at Saddam's hands. Bush has cut taxes down to zero for people making under $20k or 30k - that's a big jump in money. Raising the minimum wage would just price people out of the employment market - it's accepted by most economists that it's a bad idea because it just means lots more poor people are out of work. And I haven't seen any statistical evidence showing that there is an increase in abortions - what is that based on?

Sorry Lord bobbington but when you bomb a city is needs to be for an immediate threat and a last resort because you know thousands of innocents will be maimed or killed. It is not an accident when this happens. An accident is a plane crash accidentally killing people or a plant exploding. That is why so many Americans are outraged about the war. I am not antiwar I just want a leader who is cautious thoughtful and war is a last resort against an immediate and known threat. Because you know when you bomb ,innocents are killed. You know it so it is not an accident. It would only be even tolerable if the bomb was to keep us from being attacked.

Plus about half the time that we bomb something, it turns out to be a wedding or something completely unrelated to terrorists. That kind of inaccuracy is just unacceptable to anyone who values life. Not to mention the vast number of executions that have gone on in Texas over the years that Bush was governor. If he really wants a "culture of life," why not actually let people live whose lives were in his hands?

Ididnotvote4him Needs To Take A Valium And Look At Things More Objectivly. It Is Not The Goverments Responsibility To Teach Birth Control Or Hand Out Condoms, It Is The Parents Responsibility To Teach There Children When To Keep There Drawrs Up And How Not To Make Babies. Abortion Is Just The Cowards Way Out Of A Situation You've Gotten Yourself Into Through Your Own Stupidity And Laziness, There Is No Reason For Unwanted Pregnancy With The Current Education And Availability Of Birth Control At This Time. As For The War I Feel That It Was The Dumbest Move The Usa Has Done In 50 Years, But If Your Going To Fight You Do It All The Way, Destroy The Enemy And End It As Quickly As Possible. The Time When Only The Soldiers Died Was Over 150 Years Ago. Thats Why Our Goverment Of The Rich, For The Rich, And Only For The Rich Should Be Turned Out Now. Libertarians Forever

Heh well I agree with you on the libertarian part Armando. I think it is, or should be, about personal responsibility for people. If we make everything so that it's not somebody's fault no matter what they do, then people just stop taking responsibility for themselves. They start to expect the government to just come in and help them out, when really what they need is to think about their own actions more before they do them. I do agree with ididnotvote4him though on the idea that if people are that strongly anti-abortion, then they should be working to make it easier for people to keep from getting pregnant than trying to block their access to abortion. If somebody is too poor to afford birth control, then a religious group is better off helping them get it or doing educational things that are consistent with their religious views if they have a problem with that (i.e., TEACH people about personal responsibility. Teach them the consequences of their actions.) That's going to be the best way to reduce the number of abortions in the long run, I just don't want the government getting into the business of reproduction.

Thats the point I was trying to make. I do not need Valium !I have teens and unfortunately a lot of parents are not around and youth makes mistakes and gets pregnant. When the religious right blocks their access to bith control then the abortion rate goes up. Right now in the city I live in the school board teaches abstinence as ideal but wanted to include information on where to find birth control . The religious right is blocking it writing letters to the school board the newspaper and threatening to take their kids out of the school sysytem. Our school board lets every parent review the curriculum and can pull thier student out if they do not approve. The pastor at a huge born again fellowship does not want the schoool kids to even k now birth con trol exists yet our town has an epidemic of meth babies born to teenage moms. I think acess to birth control would reduce abortion, and when the woman does not get an abortion the child is usually taken form the home pretty quick when they are on meth. You and I end up supporting it and all the societal problems with it. The neocons fight birth control yet that will caus either an increase in abortion or birth of babies into abusive terrible enviornments. That is a sin.

I think the problem is that many people have strong religious views against both abortion and birth control. If you're Catholic or Mormon, what are you supposed to do? You don't think birth control is morally acceptable and you have a serious ethical problem. The only choice you have is to promote abstinence, and it's your right as an American to push for that as government policy regardless of how you came to your views. Before people start saying "but that violates separation of church and state," remember that all kinds of political views are formed based on religious beliefs - the Amish are radically anti-war because of their religious beliefs in pacifism, for example, and Catholics are often anti-death penalty because of their religious beliefs. I'm just saying that it's not hypocrasy to oppose both birth control and abortion on religious grounds, and it's perfectly OK for a U.S. citizen or a politician to act on those religious beliefs.
