It seems to me that abortion clincs are the least regulated medical facilities in the country. There seems to be very little oversite with about the only requirement that at least one MD actually be on site when procedures are being done. Nurse Practitioners do much of the procedures and doctors are there merely to allow them to be legal. Many deaths or injuries go unreported or under reported due to "privacy" issues. If there is a problem the woman ends up in an emergency rooms with no tie back to the clinic. It has been claimed that the modern day abortion clinic is more like the "back alley abortion" mill of legend then anything that actually happened pre Roe v Wade.

Perhaps I am wrong. I am asking our resident researcher Sam to advise what are the regulations regarding abortion clinics and how much are these regulations being followed. Bear in mind this is not an indictment of abortions but what I perceive as a problem with unsafe clinics. Sam, althought I have many issues with you I recognize that you are perhaps the best researcher I have ever come in contact with. I trust that you will be fair if you do this research and look at both sides as you usually do. Thanks

I am going to disagree with you (did you think anything else was possible ). All abortion clinics are owned or managed by OBGYN's but they merely oversee the operations. Much of the actual work is done by nurse practisioners. You list merely shows what clinics are available. I was wondering if there were any statistics regarding number of deaths or injuries occuring at a clinic (don't tell me none, every medical facility has some), how often are they inspected, are they inspected. Basically, who is responsible for the oversight of the procedures of the clinics.

My gut feeling is that since these are protected under "privacy rights" there is very little oversight since to do so would violate the privacy of the clinics clients.

I am not afraid to click on links, if the subject intrests me. Let me say that I am pro choice and don't have a problem with a woman decieding to termaniate a pregancy. I do have a problem with late term abortions and also for tax dollars being used for this purpose. Abortion should not be used as birth control.
