The friends I chose in childhood were high achievers, who are today sickeningly decent and, mostly, very successful and rich people.

Actually, I ended up quite successful - going by capitalist standards - myself. At 66 I haven't worked a day in 11 years, living on my own LEGALLY acquired loot.

However this didn't insulate me from "becoming" a drunk. Like I said, I believe I'm like "Joe McDoakes" - born behind the eight ball.

I know Christians like to think we were all born with an equal chance at "salvation." To believe otherwise would shoot themselves in the foot theologically.

But if they would just READ the Bible, instead of parroting selected parts of it that support their control freak lifestyle, they would see some of us started life further behind than the early settlers.

Then again, it is obvious from this board that most Christians weren't born with enough brain power BUT to parrot pastor's last sermon.
