I am a former gangmember and I ran with the Mexicans...all So Cal Mexican gangs are 13's (sans 18th St.) the 13 Is from the Mexican Mafia....For new gangs to earn a 13 they have to have it approved from officals in the "M".

Los Angeles jails are 100% segregated and the LA County Sherrfi's department seems complacent in allowing the "Southsiders" enforce their own rules and regulations in the County Jail system.
In L.A. Jails there are 4 groups 2 of them Latino,
"Southsiders"- mostly gang memebers some not, but generally this group was born in the U.S..most Arabs and Armenians run with southsiders
Paisas- Latinos as well but not gansters.....more like you typical gardener type, although some gang member choose to run with the Paisas.
Blacks-African Americans and Samoans, Tongans some other Asians etc.
Woods- Whites

Most Asian Gang members are not allowed in General population because the M has a green light on them.
