I didn't see that, but it sounds true to form. A lot of those "bipartisan" committees end up with bickering and finger-pointing. When they do come up with something, people tend to ignore them instead of trying to pass anything. Really, I think they only get appointed to give people cover - if a politician doesn't want to deal with a tough problem, they just say they'll appoint a committee to study it so it looks like they're doing something. Both parties have done this a lot on things like Social Security, that Yucca Mountain nuclear waste dump, etc. I'm a little worried about having Hillary leading the way on this personally though (the 1993 health care plan still gives me the willies).
