The minimum wage is just that... a minimum wage. It is not a 'living wage' as no one is expected to be able to support a family with it. The minimum wage is a starting point when one enters the job market with little or no skills. Gaining the skills or educating oneself is what is expected of an employee in order to make that employee more marketable to himself and other potential employers. The burden is on the employee.
Most of us only have three different roads in life when it comes to jobs. We either work for someone else, work for ourselves, or live off the system.
