The people in the British Isles used to own their rivers too. Now they are owned by the rich. I'm not suprised to see this come to America. No country treats it's rich better. The beaches used to belong to the people too. Now only the wet sand is public, which does no one any good because you can't get past private property to reach the wet sand.
Where I live we are trying to stop development on the dunes that will close off access, and destroy the veiw. If you know of any orginazation that could help us fight them , I'd appreciate it if you'd let me know. This land is my land.
